Vehicle handling (Constructive criticism)

My only major gripe with Halo 5 is the way vehicle’s handle. They feel so light and they bounce everywhere, and then when you drive them they drift all the time. A bit like halo 1’s handling but IMHO, a bit worse. Also you can control some vehicles in the air, and it just doesn’t work, on more than 1 occasion if i’m trying to balance a mongoose back wheels first, when I land, I will loose momentum and go backwards. They could fix this by adding a button to hold then use the stick (Lb?) I’m not super angry about this, I can live without it, I just think it would be nice if they improved the vehicle mechanics since they are a big part of Halo. (What i’m saying is a bit petty, but I love Halo 5 and I would love to see it be perfect than just incredible).

I love the way warthogs feel. They don’t feel as sluggish. The mongoose is a bit unruly though. Could use a little halo 3 love!

So I’m not the only one having issues. I feel that the issues with handling, especially while in the air, is to do with the fact you can know semi control it in mid air. However, as we are never told about this, let alone how to do it, everyone’s currently got no -Yoinking!- idea what they are doing, myself included.

I wish barely throttling forward wouldn’t make my vehicle slide sideways down a hill that barely has an incline. I’d like my vehicle to grip the terrain realistically. I’ve always hated that. It makes driving in some situations unruly.

Analysis: Polite tone, Clear points, Issues with game highlighted with solutions proposed.
Conclusion: Well done constructive criticism, Thread may resume.

I like the handling in the air. It has always been a part of halo, just not to this degree.

Well, I haven’t paid that much attention to “air handling” - feels ok to me - but I totally agree with the first part of what you said: Vehicles bounce everywhere.
Even if you drive slowly over a small hill you begin to jump. Hitting a “ding” with only the right or left wheels makes you flip over. Not to mention all the barrelrolls you find yourself in. Oh and when you drive a ghost sideways and hit a wall, it looks like it…sucks your “engine hood” in a magnetic way.
So in the end I would agree that vehicles feel way too light.
Please change that (:

It’s not GTA 4 bad, but it’s still kinda bad.

Found them ok except mongoose… Think twice before jumping on. Ghost handles it all very well!

From what I have seen, the vehicles are responsive and don’t feel slow unlike previous games (H3, too a degree H4). However, I noticed that the warthog (at least for me) has a high centre of gravity, leading to it going out of control when simply going over terrain.

Tank driving in this game is SO bad. trying to back up with your turrent sideways is a nightmare. ghosts and warthogs also bounce to much and can flip is you hit a Spartan…

Yes!
Had this a few days ago

The vehicles could use a little more weight to them

ODST had the best warthog, reach was a close 2nd, imo

The mongeese/mongooses/mongi need some adjustments, but overall I can live with the handling. I just wish my Scorpion wasn’t made of glass…

I love the vehicle handling. Like you said, it’s very similar to Halo CE’s feel. That alone puts it ahead of H2, H3, Reach, and H4’s vehicle handling as far as I’m concerned. There are so few things I can praise Halo 5 for, but the vehicle handling is definitely one of them.

I agree with you JaydensApples. I’m not claiming I’m pro or super good or anything, but I did a lot of hog driving. In fact, it’s primarily what I did in BTB and I probably averaged 15-20 “Wheelman” per game. I’m trying to get used to the vehicles in this game, but they do feel light. It seems like they’re constantly driving on ice. It feels like it’s more dangerous for the hog to hit someone.

Nope, same amount of danger for hitting people with the hog…the pedestrian still dies

I feel like the ghost needs some adjusting, when going in for a splatter 7/10 times my ghost will flip out when hitting the spartan while barely taking down the shields
