So here’s an idea that can make vehicle hijacking a little more interesting and add more flare to the concept. If you remember from the game Halo Wars, when a Spartan hijacked a vehicle it would convert to the color of the spartan who boarded it. For Halo 5, I thought it would be cool if when you boarded a vehicle in multiplayer, it would convert to your primary and secondary colors.
For example, my primary color is blue and my secondary color is yellow. Therefore, when I hijack a vehicle, it would be mainly blue but it would have some yellow parts on it (ex. stripes, seats, turret, etc.).
However, for the sake of argument, this wouldn’t apply to every multiplayer gametype. I thought a feature like this would be cool in gametypes like Invasion or Dominion. Also, it would be fun to use in custom games as well. Furthermore, I think it would be best if it was left as an option so people could switch it off if they are annoyed with it.
This feature would definitely NOT be in game modes such as Campaign.
In addition, I thought this feature would be cool for people who make Machinimas, other Halo videos, and take screenshots. Overall, I think this idea will add more personalization to the game and would give players a chance to be creative.
What do you guys think? Is this a good personalization idea? Would you like to use this in custom gametypes and some Matchmaking playlists?
Also, how would you apply your primary and secondary colors to a vehicle?
That’s not exactly how it worked. In Halo Wars, each vehicle was colored according to the team it belonged to. If the Banshee was on the red team, it would be colored red. If a Spartan from the blue team hijacked it, it would become blue.

The Spartan is already the color of the team it is on, so basically it’s still the same idea. That’s also why I said it would be best in gametypes like Dominion and Invasion. However, if it were a free for all gametype or a similar game mode, then the vehicles would convert to your primary and secondary colors.
I wouldn’t suggest making the entire vehicle blue at the push of a button, but if they lights or other changeable details switched colors, I think it could be cool.

That’s basically how I thought of it. It wouldn’t become some solid color monstrosity. It would convert just a bunch of the parts of the the vehicle (70 percent roughly).
Remember the mongoose colour option for reach in forge or custom games? They looked pretty sick other colours! Maybe you could change the mongoose or warthogs to the colours you choose (like pure black with white detail) in the menus like you do with your spartan/elite, and they changed to your when you got on them or hijacked them? Idk but team based games having a pure red spartan on a pure red vehicle would look silly imo so im just throwing ideas out there for you to play around with
I’m not the kind of person that says “no” to a random idea. I like to think about how the things could be added and make them work. And the only way I could see this being implemented is if it only had an option in custom games or a specific game type/s.
Actually, a Warthog Garage sounds pretty interesting to have in a side game, like Halo Wars or ODST.
Depends. It does remind me lot of the color system in MechAssault 2; Lone Wolf, where getting in a mech would change the colors (From default grey), and getting out would turn it back. I can see the cool sides to this, but 70% of the body may be too much. I think it should only comprise about 10% of the vehicle’s color instead, like maybe forcing the vehicle’s trim or glowing bits to change color.
