There’s a lot of threads talking about gameplay in halo infinite but none include the function of vehicles.
Create a list of vehicle changes that you would like to see in infinite.
- Vehicle Physics - This property the Vehicles had in the Original halo Trilogy is severely overlook by 343 and is lacking in the newer Halos. Anyone who has played halo 3 or halo CE will have distinct memories of driving in a warthog/mongoose and being thrown into the air by a grenade and how fun of an experienced it was. It gave a sense of urgency to flip the warthog back over and keep going before being shot. In Halos 4 and 5 the warthogs just sorta slide over and have no personality.
2.Vehicle Explosions - In halo 4 and especially 5 the explosion of Vehicles are so lackluster, the Vehicles literally spark up and that’s it. There is no satisfaction in destroying a Warthog or Wasp because they just give the most disappointing light show ever. In halo 2 vehicles would literally become unstable and explode in a tantrum and in Halo 3 the explosions were so big and so memorable. You can instantly remember scarabs and warthogs blowing up in a big fiery mess as bits and pieces flew across the map.
-
Scouthog - In the older games, scouthogs could only carry marines and in Halo 5 you can literally only have 1 passenger and that it’s. I think it would a great idea if the scouthog could hold up to 6 Spartans. There’s a reason having 3 people in a Warthog is such a fun experience and it’s because it promotes team play. Scouthogs would only add to the experience by Promoting teamplay, making the scouthog actually useful, and would be a great addition to machinimas
-
Halo CE passenger Camera Option - I think having the option to switch from 3rd person to 1st person I the passenger seat of any vehicle would be a cool addition to infinite. It’s a really cool feature in Halo CE and could be turned off if you prefer the camera performs in the other games.
1st person was pretty cool if you had a Fuel Rod Cannon or Rocket launcher but otherwise it was really hard to hit anything. Still fun though so I’d like an option
Tone down the freaking turret overheat while your at it…and if the ONI hog comes back make it the same infinite ammo beast it used to be.

I actually used to really like that about the ONI hog, made me think ONI was just always up to no good and the black color scheme and explosive rounds were a nice touch.
Bring back Halo 2/3 vehicle health mechanics. Vehicles still take damage, but there is always a buffer with player health/shields.
The chip damage system that’s been in place since Reach is horrendous. It turns vehicle combat into a pure battle of attrition. Watching skilled drivers/pilots dodge stickies, rockets, etc and outplay enemy drivers/pilots only to die to hitscan small arms fire never stops being frustrating. It also encourages passive vehicle play. The moment you expose any section of your vehicle to go on the offensive, you are vulnerable to being crippled by basic precision weapons, so it ends up being better for your vehicle’s long term survival to stay on your ‘side’ of the map as much as possible and let enemies come to you. It is the reason why you basically never saw Wraiths move far from their base on Hemorrhage, it is why you rarely saw a Mantis pilot move past the central hill on Ragnarok. It games prior to Reach, it was possible with a skilled driver that you could make multiple runs on an enemy help position and make it out again without turning whatever vehicle you are using into a flaming deathtrap.
It certainly doesn’t help when precision weapons can inflict absurd levels of damage to vehicles relative to the skill needed to hit such a comparatively huge target(compared to individual players). There are so many vehicle counters in the Halo sandbox now there is no reason bog basic rifles should have such an impact. Precision weapons should be used for disabling pilots, not destroying vehicles outright with sustained fire that includes the Sniper Rifle as well Anti-Material =/= Anti-Tank/Anti-Air. Shooting through cockpits and windshields would be fine, but there is no reason a sniper rifle, the premier anti-infantry weapon, should also be able to cripple a Ghost or Banshee with such little effort.
As anachronistic as it may seem to tie vehicle health to the players like it was in CE(sans vehicle destruction), H2, and H3, I would still rather see a skilled driver/pilot to be allowed to milk every last second out of a particular vehicle then have them be shut down by basic teamshot.
TL;DR Bring back the vehicle health system from Halo 3, ditch the chip damage system, and nerf precision weapon damage against vehicles.
For starters, vehicles should be legitimate threats on the battlefield. If a Warthog can be easily destroyed by a firing squad of BRs, and a Tank can be destroyed by a single grenade before the driver can even react, there’s something seriously wrong here.
These vehicles, with their advanced armor plating, shouldn’t be able to go down like an ordinary player. Players should have to get powerful weapons (rockets, lasers, etc.) or their own vehicles to combat them. The Warthog turret could use a boost to its accuracy and damage, but the Scorpion is in desperate need of attention. It’s way too slow. A sprinting player shouldn’t be able to jump on the back and plant a grenade like a walk in the park. I think that the Scorpion should move slightly faster than a sprinting player. Or make it so that you can’t hijack a tank until it’s taken rather substantial damage. You know what? Let’s have both of these. A tank is a tank; it should be one of the most feared machines on the battlefield. And speaking of speed, let’s boost 90mm cannon’s projectile, too. Being able to snipe targets from afar with a Scorpion is super satisfying.
Also, the physics need to be addressed. Driving a Warthog or a Mongoose in Halo 5 feels like navigating a moonbounce castle from the fair. The vehicles need substantial weight to them, and not bounce around as if they’re filled with helium.
I’d love to see the Scouthog come back. Can you imagine filling one of those things up while everyone is armed with power weapons? And having a 1st person option would be great, too. It would feel a lot more exhilarating to be right in the action like that!

I agree 100%, there used to be skill involved when taking down an enemy vehicle, and the same goes for being a careful driver. You could risk going into enemy territory for a butt load of kills but be taken down easily, or you could be passive and stay with your teammates. In the newer Halos good drivers aren’t rewarded and can be taken down by snipers across that map. What’s the point of shooting the driver if you can just blow up the whole vehicle.
I would like to be able to turn the scorpion without the cannon having to be directly ahead or directly rear facing

Their stuff is always the best cause they have all the fancy experimental tech. Then they nerfed it and it SUCKED

Why the hell can small arms do damage to ARMOR anyway?
If its something like a sniper, thats fine. Its an AMR in canon anyway, destroying sensitive equipment from long distance is its intended job. But a 7.62? NO WAY
I remember in Reach when DMRs would make a warthog start spiraling if you caught any airtime, and if many were hitting you it was hard to recover haha. Nuts!
I’m honestly pretty much ok with the vehicles, I just don’t want them to be made of cardboard anymore. Vehicles were so easily destroyed in Halo 5 it was a joke. I remember when warthogs were WARTHOGS!
I want the Banshees’ shields removed. Make Wraiths less slippery once you use their boost. Ghosts should have weaker armor and make their shots less impactful on moving targets. Remove the Gungoose. Add the Wasp to regular multiplayer but make its armor weaker so they can’t complete dominate for long stretches of time. Give Scorpions their machine gun back so the main player can shoot the cannon and use the mg at the same time. The chain gun turret should remain but make it fire fewer rounds per second. The damage should be greatly increased. To compensate for this, make the Scorpion slower and make the cannon swivel slower.
Warthogs buffed. Make the gunner harder to hit. Warthogs are rarely used in h5.
Ghosts nerfed in some capacity. There are always a million ghosts flying around 5 minutes in to warzone.
How about Vehicles PERIOD! Halo 5, had to vehicles in Team slayer. Think Halo 3 Slayer!
How about a proper Big Team Battle! With Hornets, Banshees, Wraiths, Specters, Warthogs, Scorpions or Grizzlies, or Elephants!
Arena is cool but come on.

Man just shorten that sentence to Remember the Reach DMR and all types of hilarity happens. Man, that was a rough time for vehicles.
Id like to see the chopper back.
Able to kill a boarding enemy on your own when using a mantis. (similair to how a tank/wraith kill boarders)
Splatter mechanics. More so the ghost. Ive hit several people where i end up going flying in the ghost instead of them lol.
I just want a Warthog that handles like a real car. You shouldn’t slide so drastically when you handbrake, or when you turn. Give it some real weight, and give it some extra grip on the road.

No. Halo ce physics will always be the most realistic and immersive vehicle physics in video game history.
