I find the pelican system to deliver vehicle is unbalanced. I don’t say 343 need to remove the pelican system, they choosed to create it and won’t retire it, but I think there is imortant improvement to do.
1 Each base should receive the same vehicle :
The map are always symetric with each team having his own base. As the pelican bring a vehicule to each team at the same time, it should’nt be difficult to distribute vehicles fairly. However, I see many times a team receive a tank and another receive a warthog ! This is absolutely outbalanced !
I remember a game where the ennemy got a tank and they won long before we could receive a powerfull vehicle too.
2 Vehicles shoud appear behind the base
The vehicule who appear in a base can be used or destroyed by the enemy. I see many times vehicles appear in the base despite the enemy is there ! It shouldn’t be so easy to the ennemi.
3 Pelicans should drop both vehicles at the same time
Sometimes, pelicans drop first a vehicle to a base and the second arrive after. Also, a weird bug or not, I don’t know, but some pelican don’t drop their vehicle for a moment, they just stay stationnary and I see other players shoot the vehicle in vain.
In both case, when I get in the vehicle, the ennemi vehicle had already cross the map to shoot me.
4 Pelicans shoudn’t drop warthog
With this pelican system to deliver vehicle, there is much less special vehicle on the map. In the other Halo games, a base had for example a warthog, a ghost and a banshee. Now in Infinite, a base have a warthog and an aleatory vehicle dropping by pelican, but most often the pelican drop a warthog and we no longer have acces to special vehicle !
5 Vehicle bases shouldn’t be destroy or steal by the ennemy
I think that vehicles that just appeared on the map should be indestructible until a player use it and players should not be able to use vehicles that just appeared in the enemy camp. At least, the vehicle should appear behind the map to be more protected.
For example, in the map “Highpower”, it’s very easy to take the wasp when it appear and destroy the enemy wasp at the other side of the map
Here a video to show you how it’s easy :

Each base should receive the same vehicle
Let base receive vehicle aleatory
0voters
Vehicles shoud appear behind the base
Let vehicle appear in front of the base

Pelicans should drop both vehicles at the same time
Let pelicans drop vehicles when they want
0voters
Pelicans shoudn’t drop warthog
Let pelicans drop warthog

Vehicle bases who just appeared should be indestructible and ennemi shouldn’t be able to stole them
Let vehicle bases be destroy or steal by the ennemy
Honestly, the maps are poorly built for vehicles to begin with, and the vehicles themselves feel very tacked on, even in the campaign. They don’t have anywhere near the health they used to have, the damage and explosion effects look cheap and basic, stuff like the wraith bomb just look pathetic visually, I could go on. Basically all the enjoyment of vehicle play has been sucked out of the game for me.
The entire system of having vehicles drop into the map feels like an addition on par with the fireteam system in H5, where 343 didn’t like that another chief would just appear in game without fitting into the lore. That or it’s something they’re testing out for a loadout/battle royale gametype, in which it makes mechanical sense to have players summon weapons and vehicles to their location.
If they must have it in standard btb, it should be used as just a visual effect for the standard fixed spawns, where the pelican comes along to drop the same vehicle in the same spot on the same timer that it would normally just hologram in on. That or add a separate btb playlist with killstreaks where people who like that sort of thing can go summon in a tank based on performance instead of just rng.
The whole pelicans dropping vehicles bit is idiotic and is antithetical to the large vehicle-centric semi-symmetrical maps that every previous iteration of BTB was based on.
Both teams should have the same set of vehicles respawning on timers, just the same as every other halo game. Too bad the maps seem to be the exact opposite of what BTB maps have been in the past, there’s hardly room for vehicles to move outside of the designated roads and the vehicles seem to be made of paper. At the end of the day It’s just another case of 343 failing to deliver.
Absolutely, I don’t agree with all points here but certainly this iteration of BTB has thrown the concept of both balanced starts (due to asymmetrical weapon pads) and continuous balance (due to random vehicle spawns) and it completely ruins the gamemode.
Power weapons and vehicles should always either:
spawn symmetrically at each of the team’s bases
spawn in the middle or edges of the map, in a neutral location which each team has an equal chance of reaching and controlling from their spawn
2.5) In some cases maps can also have spawns in neutral locations which favour one team over another, so long as each team has an equivalent beneficial position e.g. blue can easily control right flank, red can easily control left flank, and both spawn rockets. Each side is individually asymmetric in favour of one team but when considered together both cancel out.
Unfortunately the pelican drop system is neither symmetrical due to the random timings and what vehicle is dropped, nor does it drop those vehicles in neutral areas which don’t favour a specific team. Thus it completely unbalances the gamemode and leaves the flow of battle in the hands of rng. This totally undermines all of the rest of the work that goes into balancing these modes, from map design and weapon pad placement to things like the unlockable weapon caches which are supposed to hand more control to the players of how to access power ups and weapons.
The same is true for the drop pods with power weapons in them although how they work is even less clear to me. Overall, BTB needs a rework for the same reason Halo 4’s Infinity slayer drops needed removing, and it should be a simple case of just disabling the pelican and drop pod drops, adding heavy vehicles to base spawns, and rebalancing the weapon pads to ensure they always pesticide the same set of weapons to both teams. Should be common sense to seasoned halo players, but I guess that ain’t the multiplayer design team atm.
Even worse, I came looking for this type of post after a Capture the Flag match earlier where the team that was leading in flag caps (0 - 1) received two Scorpion drops one after another.
The losing team did not receive a vehicle drop either time.
Yes I just noticed sometimes a team receive a vehicle and the other don’t ! First I thought it was to help the team who lose, but not at all. I don’t know if it’s a bug or normal for the game, that wouldn’t surprise me
The drop system is totally aleatory, it’s absolutely unfair and extremely easy to fix (both pelican drop same vehicle) ! It’s a shame for 343 to propose that system for month without even recognize it’s a problem !
Now we are in season two, and the vehicle apparition system is still broken. I saw many time a team receive a tank and the other don’t. The two pelicans don’t drop the same vehicle at the same moment (once, I managed to get the warthog dropped by a pelican, cross the map, and stole the other vehicle dropped by the other pelican !)
And could someone explain me why sometimes a team don’t receive a vehicle when the other does ? Is there a pecific calcul from the game to help a disadvantaged team or is it just a big bug ?!
BTB is completely messed up right now definitely no invincible vehicles, less tanks, no back of base spawn. Theres tanks spawning in the first 2 min of a match there needs to be less tanks and nothing thats going to make the imbalance between vehicles and on foot even worse
