Varying Grenade Throws

There could be a wide range of grenade throws. The longer you hold down the trigger, the harder and straighter the grenade will be thrown. I think the whole window of varying throws should be within about half a second, to make it a quick and simple action. If you were to tap the trigger, you would underhand throw it a couple feet in front of you, or possibly just drop it. If you were to hold it down for the full throw, you could throw a grenade straight through a head-level window 25 meters away. This would also make throwing grenades a little less convenient which would make Halo less of a grenade spamming game. Think of the applications! Any thoughts?

Yes, sort of like a charge. Just a quick pull of the trigger will toss the grenade at minimum distance, but if you hold it, it “charges”. 5 seconds, maybe?

Five seconds is much too long and great a deterrent for throwing grenades far distances. I say one second at the most.

it would be waaaay to easy to stick people. it would be just like shooting them with a sticky grenade after the full charge duration. I think the grenade toss is fine right now. People with 5 star nades will always find a way to kill you with nades or spam.

That would be too hard to monitor. It would be too easy to charge it for the full second. Besides, if you’re chucking a grenade semi-cross-map, you’re probably not in an immediate battle, and have 5 seconds to spare.

I think people would get a good feel for the quick charge time fairly fast. Oh no, I don’t want the game to turn into a long range grenade killing game. I think idealy hard thrown grenades should travel about the same distance as they do in previous Halos but be thrown from the hip so the throws can accommodate a straighter trajectory without adjusting the distance able to be thrown.

Interesting take. Grenade throwing is one aspect most people have come to rely on for its steadfast continuity. I say leave it the same, otherwise your just giving people another thing to complain about.

Agreed, this is what I thought/hoped the topic was about, not some “throw distance” thing. The longer you hold the grenade button before you throw, the shorter the time before the grenade explodes, hold to long and you’ll suicide (lol).
A good way to make it easier to stop, or at least damage vehicles with grenades, as well as using grenades to your advantage, “cook” the grenade and then throw it to have it explode just when it enters a room, and kill the camper next to the door.
