Well not quite the reality is support for infinite would continue until the new prohect is ready or atbleast ready to show.
So at least 2.5 years from now.
And mcc would probably see nopre support come that time.
Thus 343i will be only managing one live project.
As for development simultaneous to support, that is and has been standard for them.
Obviously plans for infinite will be scoped significantly but sunsetting wont be pushed.
From what i understand CAs product was at least initially on slip space sharing infi ites resources so its posaible that will become infinites road map.
Honestly, unless that number is strictly profit, that seems low if we are encapsulating the entire franchise. The 12+ video games, Map packs, microtransactions from the last two games, novels, toys, promotional partnerships with Duritos, Mt. Dew, Rockstar, etc, etc, etc. And let’s not forget the cookbook.
Unless someone can find an official statement from Microsoft that states specifically the revenue they’ve earned from game sales, game pass dividends, and microtransactions then it’s all just a bunch of estimations or twisted data.
I 100% do not believe that Infinite has sold more that 81 million copies. 343 was tooting their horn in January that they had the most successful release ever with 20 million users. Nobody in their right mind would believe another 60 million have joined since then.
Microsoft did at one stage release a fairly decent pack covering some of the franchise’s numbers which made for interesting reading although of course they fell short of going into the real detail.
I do wonder how well Halo ‘sold’ since the multiplayer was free to play and the campaign was free to play on Game Pass, especially when combined with the fact that there wasn’t a collector’s edition.
Sure that leaves lots of people to potentially buy it but it has to have eaten into their numbers.
