The updates and changes that 343 is doing to Reach is ruining the game. Reach was not suppose to be another Halo," " 2," "3. It was to generate a larger fan base by bringing in new fans and allow player that were not as good to have a chance. The armor abilities were add to Reach revitalize and evolve the series ,improved from the equipment pick-ups in Halo 3, and allow for other strategies other than run and gun, pack running, camping with power weapons, grenade spamming. Armor abilities allow players to combat these strategies to keep up with the evolving shooter’s out their.
343 should give the player the choice to the classic Reach without their updates and 343 Reach with their updates. They should have never changed it in the first place but for miner tweaks. 343 should have made a beta playlist for Halo 4 to test their ideas. Instead of ruining a game because people wine and cry. 343 updates are better suited for Halo 4 to continue the classic Halo play style. see my last post on page 8.
You sound enraged.

U beat me to it!
Does anyone agree with me other than say I am enraged because as it stands now you agree.

Reach failed at that, so 343 provided options. I see no problem. It’s not like they removed vanilla settings anyways.
Reach opening sales generated 30 million dollars more than Halo 3." Upon the first day of release, Reach grossed over $200 million, surpassing Halo 3’s record of $170 million." from NameBright - Coming Soon. What options did they give. What do you mean they did not remove vanilla settings because the started to implement the changes in some of the playlist. How do I play those without the changes online.
I agree with enraged draco. The armor abilities make it fun for me.

You can only really enjoy Reach in it’s original form in Campaign, local Firefight, and Custom Games. Matchmaking is being constantly consumed by the Title-Update, which would explain it’s dwindling population.
DeepNNN has been recording the daily population for over a year now. He deserves a medal.

Im pretty sure it was dwindling -way- before the TU. If anything, ive noticed an increase of about 10k people on average since its release.

Its also sold almost 1/3rd of what H3 has total, along with almost 1/3 less playing time total.

Reach has sold half of what halo 3 has. Had stronger competition coming out. In a time where video games sales are down. I noticed the population was dropping when the updates were coming out.

It jumped up considerably when the TU was released, then dropped down again. It has since declined up until December, which can be attributed to the Holiday season and people on vacation from school, work, etc.
You can check out DeepNNN’s monthly reports on Halo.bungie.org. He would be more than happy to share the day-by-day population with you.

I’m saying that’s mainly due to the fact that it was a new playlist. That’s how I think Halo stays on top, by creating new gametypes and tweaking old ones. A lot of people played the ZB playlist and even the Anniversary playlist. A couple weeks later those numbers dropped and the only people who stayed around were the players who liked those settings.
I agree that certain changes made in the poorly and lazily integrated TU make reach worse (Something I thought not possible)than it was before.
Things such as bleed through, removing reticule bloom on weapons that shoot 9 miles cross map, not fixing the damage that instakill reach grenades produce, and poorly balancing armor abilities.
Reach is not another H2 or H3 nor will it ever be and trying to make it such hinders is potential and is futile; I can assure you that it never will be either anything close to H2/H3 because those were good games, something reach will never be in terms of halo.
Reach is a game made for those who created Halo, and those who play once every other week; It was never intended to be even remotely close to enjoyable for long periods of time.
This game has the potential to at least be decent and some what entertaining, but not with TU’s like this. Things may never get done in the right fashion.
I agree with OP, 343i just ruined a great game by listening to a bunch of morons that should be still playing halo 3 instead.

Reach has turned away more players than it brought in. I know far too many people who have given up on Halo completely and won’t be buying H4 because of Reach.
Ok, the armour abilities may have been added to revitalize and evolve the series, but it failed in doing so. The majority of armour abilities are over-powered and ruin the concept of map control. The also ruin the flow of the game. Run and gun? I see that more in CoD than in Halo. Pack Running? People are still “pack running” so it obviously didn’t work. Camping with Power weapons? That is more encouraged now more than ever! Having AC as an AA instead of a pick-up means that when someone picks up a sniper, he can just go invisible and snipe from safety. Same thing with shotgun and sword. People are camping now more than ever with the invisibility thing. Grenade Spamming??? Seriously?? I don’t understand what you mean by grenade spamming. If you mean throwing grenades in rapid succession, then that is in every FPS, not just Halo.
I find that Reach plays better now than it did before. And making the Arena have 85% is great! Now spamming won’t be guaranteed to win!
Ehhh let me say this again… I pretty much agree w/ the OP. I liked Reach how it was when it first came out and have ever since. I always said it would be potentially the greatest game all time if you could play w/ out dual analogs. I still feel that way and feel it is DEFINITELY the best Halo game ever made. I really could care less what others have said.

I know more people that are turning away from Halo and won’t buy Halo 4 since 343 started changing things. Run and gun now be approached with more strategies. Pack running can be approached differently and combated differently. Camping with power weapons its easier to fight that type of play style. Grenade spamming(mindless throwing grenades with no restraint in hopes to get a kill) is not as bad as in Halo 3 because using an AA to escape the blast. teams spam grenades at members of their team just for of their k/d in halo 3 and cheap kill and cry that those people they killed suck. Now they can protect themselves from them.
Yeah I really liked Reach when it first came out (And still do) I just don’t understand the major changes due to the emotionally ill part of the community. Bungie did it right and everyone that doesn’t think so needs to SERIOUSLY get some kind of life and / or coping skills. It amazes me here we are w/ Reach out well over a year and there are still people complaining about Halo Reach like it came out yesterday. Its sad really…
Their answer is really quite simple… if you don’t like a game then don’t play it. Play something else. Getting your mind off a game that makes you upset is the first step towards emotional wellness (And helps the rest of us who think Reach was THE BEST Halo in the series enjoy the forums more). However, some people simply can’t let it go and THAT my friends is pathetic
