I have played halo since long before I was allowed. I would sneak and play Halo CE whenever I got the chance and I loved every second of it. My parents broke down and bought me Halo 2 for Christmas that year and I fell in love. When I could actually buy an “M” rated game, the only game on my mind was halo 3. Halo 3 was a happy reunion and I thought that the emotions it evoked and fun I experienced couldn’t be topped.
And apparently, I was right.
Halo: Reach made my eyes bleed. The thought of a reticle that was no longer static baffled me. It just didn’t feel like halo, it felt like a nightmare that enslaved all halo fans for years.
I prayed and waited and hoped that the return of chief would redeem the franchise in my eyes. I was so hopeful and proud to be a halo fan during this time, I trash talked every other game franchise I could think of because they certainly couldn’t stand against the might of Halo 4.
Then finally, after years of torment and endless patience on my behalf, it came.
Then my world came to a grinding, heart-smashing halt. This game isn’t halo. This game is a joke. I said to myself, “Surely there had been some sort of mistake, they wouldn’t do this on purpose.” The faults of this game are innumerable and I won’t waste any more of your time by listing them.
THEN I look around and see this game getting PRAISED by every magazine and gaming website in existence. The one thing that kept people coming back to halo was its CONSISTENCY. You knew you were going to experience a straight edge FPS that was easy to learn but impossible to master.
This just isn’t right. It just doesn’t feel right
I feel such a disappointment with 343, the caretaker of my baby, they have failed me.
Halo 4 pales in comparison to all previous games in terms of gameplay and just overall enjoyment. Flame me if you want. I’m done.

Some gamers like the game others dont. It all comes down to the player. If they like they will play if they dont they wont.
The OP is spot on… Its literally every idea Call of Duty ever had and put into a halo game…
The two BIGGEST pet peeves is one having classes. Like seriously? And two, why did make the scoring like CoD? Instead of counting like a normal human being to 60 or 50, you made it 600 or 1000 for big team players? Wow last time i checked i bought Halo right? Im pretty sure my box doesnt say Call of Duty Black Ops II? Huh, guess i was mistaken.
343 here’s the best advice you’ll hear from one of your customers…
ITS NOT CALL OF DUTY!! You took what Halo was made famous for and took a dump all over it with a smile on your face.
Its like Hellen Keller trying to perform a Bruno Mars song… Way to go 343, another epic fail by a Video Arts company

How was that confusing to you? Seems pretty simple to me.

Good thing none of those ideas came from call of duty but came from games before that.
I played halo ce in tournaments. Not just a single tournament but several.
Halo 2 killed halo for me for awhile. The stand bye for the first 3 months, the button glitches that they refused to fix. The br taking the place of the pistol.
Halo 3 brought new life to the game for me. I finally came to terms with the fact that the pistol of CE was gone and the br was here to stay. However, by this time most of the friends on my friends list were COD players now.
Reach was enjoyable, but again I played mostly by myself so I was easily distracted by other games as well. The DMR did however fill that void that the CE pistol left for me.
Halo 4 reinvigorated my love for the game. The improved forge (a big part of what I love about halo now) drew me in instantly. The mantis. I love the idea of the personal ordinance, however I think it could be tweaked slightly.
Is halo 4 perfect? Absolutely not. Will it take time and tweaks? Absolutely.
Does everyone have to agree with me? Not at all.

The fact that they changed a formula that had nothing wrong with it baffled me.
If they didn’t add any of the things they did then you would be complaining about the game being just a recycled copy of Reach or something. I like the ordinance drops because they’re not unbalanced. You actually need to do more than just kill to get them. I like the loadouts. It’s basically the same damn thing since there’s only like 8 weapons for primary and 3 for secondary. I like almost everything about Halo 4. I don’t think it’s a step back in any way and I love it. I liked Halo 2, never really got to play Halo 3, and Reach WAS NOT BAD. The only thing I didn’t like about it was armor lock and the grenade spam. You guys complain about every -Yoinking!- thing. The only thing here that disappoints is the community because it has literally turned into doodoo.
And correct me if I’m mistaken, but isn’t the score counted on more than just kills? Doesn’t it count every single point you get? Ex. assassinations (count as 15) assists (5) etc.?

So experimenting and looking at new ideas that could potentially create new and better formulas is now considered bad?
