So I am very interested in the personal AI, but what I haven’t been able to see/hear much of in any of the footage of the game is some of the utility that a Spartan’s AI in the Halo universe would be meant to provide. I don’t expect especially complex things, but just helping with sorting information that your hud is already giving you could be really cool and/or helpful. Maybe some of these exist, but these are all things I’d really be interested in hearing from my personal AI more than the quips and weapon flavor: Mostly, these suggestions are with new players in mind- but it’s also a matter of personal preference.
1. If I haven’t fired in a few seconds, and the clip is not full (with ammo available): a suggestion to reload.
2. Stating the type of grenades equipped when I switch grenade types. This will help players a little bit to not accidentally throw the wrong grenade type.
3. If an enemy has entered the motion sensor behind me within 10 meters [edit: fyi for users, the motion sensor is 20m]: “motion behind you” etc.
4. The waypoint user UsandThem76 pointed out in another thread that the AI’s low ammo warning comes a bit later than is helpful, and also doesn’t mention when you pick up equipment off of bodies.
Finally I am also wondering if we can have the option to customize the feedback settings of the AI. For example, could we set it to only say information like this (utility), without any of the quips/flavor that can be perceived by others as just superfluous noise. Another example would be if we could adjust when the AI informs of a drop (ex: telling us ahead of a weapon drop, concurrently, or both). I think this could really help accessibility for the game, which is what I want, because I want more people to play with!
Do other folks have similar suggestions? Can’t wait to play!
Sounds like a great opportunity to make things more accessible for people who need it.
I don’t really care either way but stating that someones on your radar is definitely not something that needs to be added.
I agree with everything except the motion sensor. I think that should be something players have to pick up on their own.
Do xbox controllers have directional rumble? Could always do a little rumble for deaf players in the direction of footsteps.

I’m curious why this would be perceived as a negative thing as long as it was done in a redundant way (as in it never tells you information that your hud doesn’t already tell you)?

It’s easy to look down at your minimap for just a second. I don’t want something like Modern Warfare 2019 where callouts lead to you dying. The minimap works differently in each game yes but it does show the problem with callouts.

I think that same logic could be applied to all of the suggestions though; All of these suggesting are simply for the AI to tell you what the HUD is already showing you (so I’m not suggestion motion tracker audio while zooming, for example). This is to help folks sorting through the sensory load who might struggle with that a bit more. This would make the game more accessible, but wouldn’t give an unfair advantage.
And if you don’t want to die because you showed up on the motion sensor: crouch walk!

You could argue this yes but it is less of an issue to be told to reload rather than to be told look at your minimap. Unless you control a power weapon being told to reload probably won’t impact the next fight as much as being told there is someone behind you.
