Using Armor Abilities

How does a Spartan use armor abilities? Does he press a button, or would he just think about it and it would happen? Also, how would Spartans be able to swap armor abilities on the battlefield in canon?

Id assume itd be mental, just like with comm channels or opening up other things on the HUD with a neural lace.

Swapping would likely be just snapping the template into the back plating of sorts.

I think it is catalyzed by the user’s Neural Interface, as Mjolnir armor links up to it.

I would imagine that Armor Abilities would be a mental equivalent of limb, it would probably come naturally to use them.

Although I believe such explanation for AA usage has never been provided by 343i, the two posts above I would assume quite accurate.

In gameplay, the armour abilities are seen as small chip-like devices, which Spartans can use by directly inserting them somewhere into their armour.

I wonder if it’s possible in the Halo lore for Spartans to insert and use more than one armour ability at a time, as in gameplay, we can only use one. However, this is probably just for gameplay reasons and to prevent gameplay from being too complicated and chaotic for the player and button layout.

I am guessing that Spartans can use more than one armor ability at one time. I could imagine a combination of something like Promethean Vision, Active Camo, and Hardlight Shield would be very useful in the field. 343 had to the ability to use them to one to balance the game.

Yes, exactly.

Although it could prove quite useful and a lot of fun, allowing the players to use more than one armour ability would definitely introduce a whole lot of balancing issues and problems with he controller button layout!

Technically, we are able to use two armour abilities already. Before Halo 4, sprint used to be an AA.

You mean modules? Not much for chips?
I don’t see why a spartan could use more than one AA. Put them on different places, on leg, back, above butt plate.

Same with armour mods. Imagine a spartan that’s fully modded!

I was about to mention AA’s are modules as well. I have no idea where some people got the idea that AA’s were in a chip from; I’ve never heard of that before. In Halo Reach & in Halo 4, AA’s are module attachments that hook/stick to the back of the Spartan’s back like a magnet. From what I’ve seen, there’s only enough comfortable room for using 1 (maybe 2?) AA’s at a time, so any more would indeed have to be placed else where around the body. Once attached, an AA can transfer(connect)/become part of the suit and thus the Spartan can access it through their neural network interface.

I think it would be kinda cool to see how a 3 AA matchmaking game would play out. (I don’t really count Sprint/evade, since it’s just a physical attribute, not the result of some additional use of an object like: an ‘invisibility cloak’-active camouflage, hologram, hardlight shield, jet pack, regeneration field/drop shield, ‘energy blanket’-armor lock, auto sentry, thruster pack, & ‘Infra Red binoculars’-Promethean vision.)
