User Interface needs to improve

I think I speak for most of the community when I say that the UI in Halo 4 is the worst of the series. Navigating through the menus is unnecessarily complicated compared to past Halo games, and more importantly the player cards are a mess. No longer can I easily see who is in my game, rather I am forced to scroll over each individual card and turn the player’s name into a readable horizontal format.

I think the UI change in Halo 4 is a classic example of “if it’s not broken, don’t fix it”. Halo 2-Reach established the way UI should be done, with many agreeing Reach’s was actually the best of the series. Therefore, Halo Xbox One needs to return to the old style.

I completely agree. Also, enough with the blues and white…everywhere in the menus there is a dull, drowning blue that is terribly ugly and generic.

Halo Reach had an excellent colour pallet throughout the menus and in the multiplayer lobbies the team colours weren’t faded away ten fold like in Halo 4. Which totally contradicts the vibrant plasticky armour colours of Halo 4, but that’s for a different topic…

Halo 4

4 has the worst UI in the series? Have you ever played CE, 2, or Wars?

How is this any different from all the other topics about the user interface?!? Can we go just one day without some negative repost about what you hated about Halo 4. Quit beating a dead horse and adding fuel to the fire!

Sure have and yet I still come to the conclusion that Halo 4’s UI was a big steaming pile of grade A, fine cut, 100% -Yoink-.

@MIcHAEl452

The dead horse needs to be beaten into oblivion. That way we know for sure we have done all we can to improve the next Halo and any deviation from the community consensus will show what 343’s word is really worth.

This is a subject I’m definitely with you on. The UI in Halo 4 is horrendous, and an eye-soar.

I really want the older UI to return, with enhancements of course. There are also crucial things missing from Halo 4’s UI, such as the ability to determine parties in a matchmade game lobby.

I posted something similar to this awhile ago. I very much dislike that fact that I have to scroll through a list of emblems and emblem backgrounds. They need to be in a grid system for quicker and easier selection.

Yes, and I prefer Halo 2’s UI to all but Reach’s. CE’s was still better than Halo 4’s, and in my opinion Halo 3’s as well.

Reach definitely had the best UI, imo. I don’t know how 343 thought horizontal player cards looked better and managed to downgrade from Reach’s UI.

I agree with everyone else. Reach’s UI did seem to be the easiest to navigate.

I agree that they should return to Reach’s UI, except I did enjoy the player cards in lobbies of Halo 4, I think that really the only problem for this one is the position of the names…

Yeah, I totally agree. They should not try to over complicate things as they did with the Halo 4 UI. Go back to a similar style to that of Reach or Halo 3. Keep it simple and easy to navigate.

Its not hate, its fact! Halo 4’s UI was traumatising compared to Reach’s. It should definitely go back to what it was. Colourful, easy, and appealing.

Its not just Halo 4, Spartan Assault has a pretty bad UI as well for such a simple game. Trying to complete all the Assault Ops is a real pain as I cannot view them from the select mission screen.

343 needs to stop going for a flashy UI and start worrying about functionality.

You don’t speak for me, OP but I do agree. Halo 4’s UI is not very intuitive. It should be more practical and useful like Halo: Reach’s UI.

Thats because it was originally designed for a tablet and not a console game.
