Useable knife...

I know this idea may get shot down quickly, and it may be like CoD or something, but I just want to put it out there. We all know the spartan armor is equiped with a handy knife to stab people in the face with during an assassination. It kinda bugs me, however, that this is the only time we have EVER seen this knife used (with exclusion of emile’s mid sized knife, which I forget the name of). Not in campaign scenes or just in general, not in multiplayer except assassinations, and not in spartan ops/firefight. I think It’d be cool if maybe in the campaign you could use the knife for a segment of the mission (not sure if Master Chief has a knife or not, but…) or maybe as an armor ability or something. anyone have some input?

Armor ability? No.

It can be like a ordinance drop. But then again, people might find it too “CoD” like even though other games use a knife. But what’s the main purpose for it if it’s useable?

The thing is, it is much faster to melee (and can be just as strong) as taking out a knife.

I could see the knife being a visual option for if your weapon is out of ammo. Either switch, or drop the weapon. Now if you tap Y with only one weapon out (or if you drop both) you have your knife out. Does the same damage and attack rate as most melee attacks do, no mechanical changes, just a visual tweak.

I did not mean armor ability. I meant those secondary things (such as dexterity) we have now. I don’t know their official names and didn’t find the need to go looking right now.

that sounds awesome, definitely makes it more realistic than a punch doing a spartan in.

Seems like a good idea. And it maybe good for Machinima purposes.

not sure, I just thought it would be a cool campaign feature to implement, again it’s just an idea. I figured since the spartans have it and there has been no real use for it as of yet

343 won’t add it in to halo 4, they’re done with the game except Title updates and dlc and weekly updates. idk if they’ll put it in halo 5.

Remember, Spartans can do things like pick up a mongoose and beat a bunch of aliens to death with it in the fiction. The games don’t let you do that because doing everything a Spartan can go according to the universe’s canon would make for a very difficult game to accurately represent, and I can guarantee it would not be a FPS.

So punching a dude seems pretty capable of killing them, given it probably liquefies the body inside the suit.

they probably will not in 5, atleast not in campaign seeing as Master chief doesn’t have a knife. (unless he gets new armor again of course). it would be great to see in multiplayer though

even against a spartan of the same design/build though? It seems they should be able to withstand that, such as you punching me twice would most likely not kill me.

He seems to use them in the campaign assassinations quite often.

They will never allow a knife besides assassinations, but what would be cool is if you could customize your knife and get new assassinations for different sized knifes.

I never noticed that… maybe he has a secret compartment? hehe

I see no reason for this at all.

It’s a small ploy to attract small children who think that now that it’s a knife, it’s cool.

I don’t see a reason for this.

Also, honestly, you don’t need a knife. Crushing someone with the butt of a weapon is going to be just as dangerous and a hell of a lot quicker than pulling out a knife, and since you’re a ridiculously strong Spartan, I think I’ll stick with that.

they could, and that that would be awesome, adding 2-3 new customizable options to the spartan. (knife style, knife skin, and where the knife is placed on the body)

It’s less an issue of that as much as it is biology and kinetic barrier shield technology. Your own armor accounts for your movements and generates a repulsion field, the other does not. Human flesh, even augmented, is demolished rather easily. And blunt force is the best way to hurt a man in harpoint armor, since cutting/stabbing through is difficult and a bludgeon’s impact carries through the armor and still mashes the dude inside on a proper good level.

Not saying we “need” it. But there’s nothing saying that if they did add it (like the way I stated earlier), it wouldn’t be awesome.
