So you know what? That´s it. Everyone (even Bravo) says “Use your mic and try to comunicate with other players.”
I did… I tried. I tried it so much times but thats it for me. All I hear are screaming, singing and shouting kids, people which are using kinect, loud music, farts, the game-sound as an endless echo and sarah palmer in different languages.
Okay in christmas time there was one very nice guy who was singing christmas-songs, that was kinda funny. But that is all what I find, if I use my mic in matchmaking.
What are your experiences with “Using headset” in matchmaking.

I havent once been out of party chat in H5 so i wouldnt know/dont care what they have to say.
I tried communicating on a match and got no feedback. Tried calling out enemies and where too shoot them. Lost the last round with one knight hiding in the garage at half health.
i really do wish though that it was possible to toggle integrating party chat into the normal game chat. mainly because i typically am not running with a party, and would appreciate good communication, which is normally what is going on when players are teamed up in party chat. heck i typically don’t even mind the friend-friend inside jokes i don’t understand if i get good callouts with it. that way your party could open it up at the beginning of a match to determine if you will get any helpful input, and close it back down to just your friends if you hear a baby crying or EDM or just hear feedback game sound.
Just use a LFG site to find people to play with… and it will get much easier to do when Microsoft enables the LFG function on the Xbox next month I believe it is?
When playing solo I get kids on my team who make annoying noises so I mute them and at the end of the match I unmute them to hear them complaining about how no one was listing. I respond by saying “Maybe don’t make annoying sounds and people won’t mute you.” Funny thing is they never learn.
The only things I’ve ever heard over a mic are people:
-talking to themselves
-complaining about their teammates
-coughing or making sounds I don’t particularly want to hear
-singing to themselves
-playing music in the background
I have yet to ever hear two people converse normally in game chat.
I tried using my mic. Let me tell you how it worked out as I was trying to work my way up to Diamond in Arena.
I ranked into diamond in the pre season and got my -Yoink- kicked constantly, then ranked into Gold / Plat. Wanted to see if I could make diamond, I assumed my preseason rank was a fluke. I started using my mic to see if it would help getting into Diamond, in the end I managed Diamond 3.
Almost no one ever talked. EVER.
Also in most games there was already 2 people in Part chat so no use me having a mic when already 1/2 my team can’t hear me.
And players who weren’t in party chat either did not have a mic or just didn’t talk.
Overall I would say less than 1% of the games I played I found players that had a mic, were willing to use it and were not in party chat.
So everyone says use a mic. What they really mean is have friends and play halo with people that are sociable and will use their mic.
What they really really mean when they say use a mic is, FIX PRE / POST GAME LOBBY CHAT ALREADY SO EVERYONE DOESN’T GO INTO PARTY CHAT.
Players in Party chat was the worst part of ranking up to Diamond and trying to get a team together.
tl:dr I tried using my mike, party chat makes it pointless.
Lately I’ve been using my mic in an effort to try to get my Warzone win % up, especially in WZFF. I’ve had maybe three matches where I was actively able to communicate with anybody, and only once did I actually enjoy that experience. I’m going to keep trying, but boy do people make it hard.
Mute those who’re annoying talk to those who aren’t. Not really hard dude I’ve made all of my friends on XBL by NOT staying in party chat being reclusive. With that I’ve made a long time friend and still do, which has lead me to believe that party chats creation while a MASSIVE step from private chat has disconnected XBL’s community a bit.
Forcing nerds out of their comfort zone can at time lead to great things. I went from being Spongebob to being Rengar because I was pushed out into the light. Comfort breeds weakness, so step out and be strong.

This …
Otherwise I use a private chat with my brother
I stopped speaking with randoms during Reach. In fact, other than a few raids for Destiny I don’t think I’ve used the mic at all for this console generation. What’s the point? I’m tired of dealing with the cliches: squeakers, ragers, music, etc. Also, I live in Arizona and it seems like the majority of my teammates are speaking Spanish so I can’t even understand them. My last attempt at speaking with randoms ended up with hate mail since I asked a guy to stick together with the team rather than rush ahead.
I don’t go into a party just in case there’s the rare gem of a player who actually calls out stuff, but most of my player interaction involves scrolling through the scoreboard to mute.
