Usable Jackal Shields in Halo 6?

I was wondering if you fellow spartans would like to see Jackal Shields as a pickup item that would function the same way as it does for Jackals where after so many shots it changes color than doesn’t work.

I don’t know how this would work in Multiplayer, but for campaign I feel it could be really unique and add a new element to the combat.

Heard LNG bring it up and thought I’d see some others opinions.

I think that idea was brought up during Halo 3 but never made it into the game (or beta). I like the idea, it’s just a matter of balancing it that poses a potential problem.

I know that SPV3 made use of a Jackal Shield as a usable item, but that it took up the space of a weapon (and you can’t dual wield, obviously). I think it would work if external Armor Abilities were brought back for whatever reason. It could fill the niche the Hardlight Shield had in Halo 4. That also brings up the question of whether that will return as well, but that’s a topic for another time.

It doesn’t sound that appealing to me. I just picture longer gunfights and not much benefit to the user unless you’re low shields, but I’m assuming you can still be hit by grenades.

Usable Jackal shields would bring me back to my Counter-Strike days; I often whipped out the Ballistic Shield to be annoying distraction.

If you read Ghosts of Onyx, the S-IIIs used them several times, and the one thing they said was bad about them was that you’d have to crouch when using it to protect your bottom half. So that could definitely be used in balancing, that you are exposed from your hip down when not crouching, unlike the hardlight shield which covered your entire body. And you could only use it if you have a handgun equipped or maybe an smg. Maybe also reduced accuracy? Thoughts?
