Okay massive theory incoming about the Didact…
I have heard throughout the forums, constant debate of whether, or not, the Smart-AI Cortana remains active? It is possible as the UNIVERSE section, only produces her commissioning date… and not death… or rather rampancy then malfunction. Some speculate that during the Incident of New Pheonix, when Cortana immobilized the Ur-Didact upon the hardlight bridge, that some fraction of her integrated with the Forerunner combat skin… perhaps her intellect, memories and data. This curious seed could have been planted a while back and be germaine to the next chapter of the Reclaimer Saga.
How can Cortana integrate with foreign alien ports… well the answer is quite simple, she is unique, even in relation to other Smart-AIs. Cortana has always been able to integrate with Forerunner units, as well as some Covenant systems, which are similar in function to the Forerunners, due to the Huragok’s influence. It is also noted that during the First Campaign of Requiem, the Librarian Ancilla called Cortana and John-117, the culmination of a thousand life times of planning… and did something ‘special’ and unknown to Cortana? Also the original Mjolnir Power Armors Systems, Spartan Programs and Artificial Intelligence’s were a loose translation of the genesongs and legacy the Forerunner Ecumene passed on to Humanity… so in theory, a Forerunner Combat Skin could work in similar ways.
Now in terms of the Didact being digitalized, it leaves quite a unique sentiment… a place for alot of introduction and plot points. So lets assume the Didact’s has been composed by the interference effect of the five composers; yet his innoculation, as he put it, wasn’t so apparent… and so became something completely different. Yet during the composotion process, the Didact’s unique mutations and the unknown fragmented Cortana, that is swirling about in his combat skin… link the bond between the digital and biological worlds… and he becomes something in-between; a celestial being that has duality personality. This new form is not effected by the ramifications of the physical world… making it immortal… yet it is able to communicate and connect with beings through a nueralogical link. Having both the memories, data and intellect of Cortana and Didact… the Celestial has both an charismatic nature to humanity, hating their flaws… but loving their virtues; the Celestial also favours the Master Chief as a friend and warrior… and attempts to offer guideness when he needs it. A unique feature also could be that due to the immortality of the Didact/Cortana… John-117 abandons his purpose to kill him or save her… justifying that one cannot be, without the other; as well as the fact that before discovering the Celestial… the Iso-Didact returns to offer assistance in the upcoming test, and being somewhat similar in appearance to his predecessor, could make the Master Chief believe this is the Ur-Didact who survived the crash into the Composer’s Forge… yet discovering this Forerunner is an ally and learning of the Celestial. Yet there is one small addition involving the Flood… due to the Flood using the Logic Plague upon both parties of the Celestial… their nature is influenced by the Flood, if a Flood Gravemind is formed… making them both a port key into the Flood intellect but also a prisoner and slave to their will… so a mission for John-117 is to free the Celestial from such a trap.
- So the bridge between the digitial and biological realms is finally uncovered…- The Ur-Didact survives somewhat and Cortana returns.- The Iso-Didact returns to assist John-117.
- The Celestial is influenced by a Flood Gravemind.
