So I noticed that there is a upgrade option in the menu in Halo Infinite do you think that this option is for the weapons or armor or both and do you think it’s a good idea
I can answer it with a quote:
“More Brutes.”
“Worse”
I hope 343i proves me wrong, but I don’t like the idea of upgrades in Halo Infinite. I fear that it will feel like a tacked on mechanic implemented in order to fill all the checkboxes of trendy game design: open world, RPG-like progression, free-to-play multiplayer, microtransactions… I’m truly relieved that in the trailers we didn’t see numbers flying over the enemies’ heads after we shot them.
I think Halo should get its inspiration from Zelda: Breath of the Wild, rather than FarCry. In Zelda you could upgrade only two things: health and stamina, and both upgrades depended on items you earned, not from gaining experience (Gosh, I hope there are no bull**** experience points in Infinite!). Moreover, there was weapon degradation, which on one side was a bummer, because you couldn’t keep your favorite weapons forever, but on the other side had the collateral effect that the weapons themselves used to be our rewards for exploring outside of the beaten path. Weapon degradation doesn’t belong in Halo, however you will eventually run out of ammo and need to switch to another weapon. Our rewards for exploration in Halo Infinite could be finding cool power weapons or vehicles that would enhance the fun of interacting with the world, not a number of XP points that we could use to unlock upgrades.
As for what those upgrades could be, I don’t think it makes much sense to upgrade weapons, since in Halo campaigns we usually don’t get to keep weapons for the whole game. It would be weird if we upgraded Assault Rifles and suddenly all AR we found in the world were upgraded. I believe we will be able to upgrade Master Chief’s passive abilities, like health, speed, stealth, number of grenades/items we can carry, cooldown time. Boring stuff that should not be in Halo. There is no point in upgrading active abilites, the only way I can imagine that happening is if we start with Halo CE’s Master Chief and end with Halo 5’s Chief, Spartan charging and ground pounding everywhere. But, I could see us upgrading armor abilities: grappleshot distance/damage; camo duration, energy shield strength…
I think those upgrades will be armor abilities like the grappling hook if anything. Stuff you collect and save in Brohammer’s Pelican and can swap loadout around when dropping from it or at the beginning of a mission. Abilities you’ll need to access some hidden area in the overworld like in Castlevania. Maybe you get some shock-based AA that can activate a light-bridge, high up areas will need the hook, maybe another AA activates a stronger punch you’ll need to destroy a wall and so on. Another possibility might be weapon attachments rather than mods, so gadgets you always have with you and can put on Crysis style, no matter what the base weapon comes with or not.
My two cents! I doubt we’ll get stuff like actual upgrades like a stronger shield or more health. This ain’t Destiny!

Have you played Crysis
Upgrades? Is this is the campaign demo? I’m not sure how I feel about it.
My first thought is this is where you go to purchase the full game and the micro transactions.

No, I haven’t. How do upgrades work in Crisis?

In Crisis when you find upgrades you permanently keep them in other words when you drop a weapon you don’t drop the attachments you get to keep those

I hope we can get upgrades for stronger Shields and Health and other things it would be nice
Upgraded shields, firepower, equipment, etc. is what I predict. Could be fun also to turn the meager Sidekick into a near-CE Pistol through attachments.
