The new chief figure looks like something an alien would have. I really like the size of the shoulder towers(the things that connect his chest plate to his back plate) but everything ells looked better in the concept art armour. The chief from the concept art looked much more compact, the chief toy model looks incomplete at the thighs, upper arm/shoulder, and especially at the wast. If nothing ells just please put more armour around chiefs wast like a utility belt or something, the toy looks vary awkward with that bare wast.
Now I just want to see how/why he has it. Was it updated through nanotechnology in the cryo tube, or will he begin the game wearing Mark VI, and then somehow receive it from someone/somewhere?
I don’t really mind his new look, though the waist looks odd without the “belt”, the shoulder pieces look kind of silly, and with the armor on either side of the neck, it just seems sort of off with it being so high up. I kind of hope it changes, but it’s not too big of a deal if it doesn’t I guess.
I don’t know why everyone is hating on the new look. Everyone, its a new trilogy so expect the Chief to look different from his counter parts. If you can’t handle that then tough luck, I guess you will just have to get used to his new look.
I for one am really liking how he looks this time around. Shoulders, chest, cod piece, boots, gauntlets, gloves, pretty much everything. He looks much more menacing and dangerous. I mean, if I was a grunt and saw Master Chief running straight at me with that suit of armor, I would probably crap myself.
I am just happy to see him back again for another 10 years of Halo
Yeah, I absolutely love his new look as well. When I first saw it in the announcement trailer, I was skeptical about it, but it seems to have really grown on me to the point where I’d rather they go with this design rather than stick to Halo 2/3’s Mark VI.
My concerns are:
*Shoulder pads don’t look right
*cartoony rougish helmet
*back pack sticking out
*space diaper.
*needs to look a littler more like halo 3 chief and I’ll be happy.

I’m sorry but I just have to disagree. Halo 4 is the start of a new trilogy. I want a Master Chief that has an awesome new look that differentiates itself from previous games. If I see a Halo 3 Chief clone, he would just be boring to look at, no offense. It’s time for something new.

I don’t care if he looks different, I care if he looks bad. Now, he still looks pretty epic, but the towers that stand in his shoulders look like the second LOTR movie. He has no protective cover around his shoulders because I guess shoulder armor should be worn below the shoulder.
Personally, I think he needs to be greener. Just looks kinda meh.

You know I was talking about the differences between the armour on the toy and the armour from the trailer right?? They are slightly different. The easiest way to see the differences are to compare the chests from the concept art with the toy, the middle peace is different. Maybe its because it was the toy but the toy armour looked way to gapped and incomplete, the concept art was more full and compact. Am I the only one that hates the bare wast?? It looks so awkward. The over all armour looks great, I just think it should be more compact and full, but most importantly he needs something to fill in his wast.
I can just see it now… “Halo 4 ******** here… 343 has released some new images of the master chief toy line. It looks as if he could be in some hybrid spartan precursor armor.”
-_- You guys know it. We all know it…
I personally think the look of his new armor is awesome. I think in game he wont look as skinny and whatnot. They always make the toys look a bit weak/anorexic.

> Thoughts??
I completely agree the chiefs armour in Halo 3 looks much better
the upper arms and waist are awful way to bare, the lags are perfect and the shoulders are awesome and the chest… meh could be better
My thoughts on the armor from the teaser is still relevant for this.

> In truth, not a fan of much of the design we know of so far. From the teaser and the armor we saw at Halofest, the chest piece seems rather small and flat, like it would be too thin to take much damage.
>
> The armor pieces on the abdomen look useless, like they do more of a job of deflecting bullets into the stomach than protecting it. And aside from them looking like they were just velcroed on, they’d look like they’d get in they way of everything. From swing your arms as you walk, get caught on any two handed weapon, and could get snagged on any ledge or cable. Why they just didn’t have the abdomen plate that tucks under the chest piece like in past Halo games I have no idea.

> The shoulder armor also suffers from the above, that it looks like it is just slapped on and hanging on by a thread. It also doesn’t go along with the style of the rest of the armor.
>
> While I love the boosters, I am left wondering of how weapons can be stored on the back. With past Halo armors the backplate had been mostly flat, easy to store a weapon there. Now with the protruding boosters the only way you could really store a weapon without interfering with the booster would be to have the weapon sticking straight vertical. With many weapons this would interfere with how freely Chief could move and tilt his head, and with longer weapons like the sniper, it would interfere with the Chiefs walking and running.

> And I don’t care what anyone says, there is no cod piece in the teaser. It is just the soft armor like the rest of the body suit. There is no reason why there isn’t an armor plate there. You don’t want any major soft armor spots in his center mass, especially THAT area.
I hope this it isn’t considered spam that I keep posting this. It is still relevant to the thread, I just don’t want to have to keep retyping my thoughts every time this comes up.
> Finger armour
I thought about this but forgot to add it to my earlier thoughts. While the thought of plate armor to fingers might seem cool, functionally it isn’t the best idea. Most, if not all, of the human guns have some type of trigger guard on it. Because of the segmented plating on the fingers, it would be very easy for the finger to get caught on the guard when switching weapons or tossing one away. Yes, you can argue it’s a game, in which case I can reply that is doesn’t look all that good either.
