I felt like this weekās offerings were no different in pricing and quantity from what they used to be⦠Feels like they just said a lot of words to distract people while continuing to do the same thing.
If anything, they slightly reduced the amount of items in the bundles and slightly reduced the cost, which makes everything still the sameā¦
Remember everyone. Even though they āreducedā prices. Without understanding the baseline value of every item in the game we cannot say if the items have actually been reduced. Yes the ābundlesā were lowered but without understand each items value. They could be peddling you a pile of crap. Items should cost no more than $1-$2 each and a bundle at most should have a full armour set with coatings for $10.
Iām looking at it that way as well, which is why I said $5 for an armor set.
There are two extremes here for the unreasonable sorts in both groups.
Everything free and everything $20+.
I think $5 is a good compromise.
My thoughts on that:
They both need better customization allowing color customization for parts.
Simple colors should be free.
Textures (dirt, wear, etc.) and designs (e.g. camo) should cost $0.10 and come in bundles of 10+ costing $1.00, and they should be compatible with all colors and have a transparency setting.
Models should cost $0.20.
I donāt mind free-to-play.
However, I donāt like games being turned into worthless storefronts.
I believe effects have higher effort āratingā than other of those, because itās animation, and usually there are a few animations in a pack (for various equipment, spawning, steps etc.).
Also new 3d models - new armor pieces designs and such, especially ones that are more complex like helmets and chests.
If youāre good enough, yes. A poor artist can create only poor art. A good artist can create poor or good art. So you do pay for quality because you need better artists to get better designs. Work-hours of better artists cost more. Hence cooler-looking armor may cost more, and I consider it justified.
Plus in the end in immaterial goods such as art (because thatās what all cosmetics in the end are), the price is decided by how much people are willing to pay for those. Thatās why people get goaded into paying for NFTs which have no intrinsic value - because they hope that they bought them for less than theyāll sell them for.
Thereās also the factor of ācanon-nessā which may come in in a franchise with a long historyā¦
Just like the cat ears or neon paints, mohawks, etc. - some love it because they look cool, while some dislike them because they donāt fit the game they used to know and love before.
This may cause poll results to be a bit skewed - people who like will rate it higher, while people who dislike will rate low which will cause an average total rating, while the item still could earn money at a high price because of the part of the community who like it.
Thatās the problem with pricing - make the price high enough so that it earns money, while enough people buy it for it to make moneyā¦
Also, there is a fraction of people whoāll always vote āwould never buyā and choose the lowest prices because they think all items should be free. But we know that aināt happening.
true. and it would bring more players in if it wasnāt so money-grubbing. Iām prolly gonna rework the calculator again over the weekend.
they should take a page out of Rocket leagueās book on paints n materials selectionā¦or maybe doom 2016ās book on that tooā¦thereās a lot that they could use lol. armor coating, in general, should be recalled and redone because of that fact
and I should clarify about the F2P. i like the idea, its great way to bring in more players. But to me, F2P is an excuse to, as you put it perfectly, turn games (and franchises) into worthless storefronts.
I wonder if my second poll-question (āIf money wouldnāt matter: How interested are you in this item?ā) already covers this enough.
It doesnāt address the exact reason āwhyā people arenāt interested, but at least you can draw a link it between interest and willingness to spend money.
Iām not a statistics expert, you probably could draw a correlation between the interest in an item and the proposed spending level by person and rate it, Iām not sure though how reliable it is and if there shouldnāt be additional questions to make results clearerā¦
made a new sheet in the calculator. basically the first version, cept everything is a 10th of its value (save a few like the 70 credit ones). ranges from totals of 260 credit (common) and 520 (legendary). I might fiddle around the values so that no rarities are around 5 bucks, but its honestly meh
I donāt think rarities should even have a price difference.
The same for event items.
The AI price in version 2 seems too low, but everything else is fine.
It seems to be about $3 for a full set of armor with attachments, which is about 20 armor sets for $60.
Still about 250% of the cost of the previous games, but itās a good compromise, I think.
