Update the Vehicle Physics/Mechanics

The vehicles in Halo 5: Guardians feel like they weigh as light as a feather. The slightest bump in the road can cause your whole vehicle to flip, usually resulting in being killed. I personally have never once called in a warthog or mongoose because the physics are terrible, and just driving it around causes it to flip several times. One of the biggest takeaways for Halo for me has always been the vehicle combat, and now I don’t even want to use them.

Outside of the warthog and mongoose, the scorpion tank bothers me. The controls are awful. It shouldn’t be a battle to simply turn a vehicle. I love the way they look and sound, I just can’t stand using them because the controls are so finicky. But on another note, the scorpion and wraith I believe are destroyed way too easily. The new spartan abilities are wonderful, but because of those abilities it is so much easier to close the distance on a vehicle to the point where they can’t look down far enough to hit you(besides that the maps aren’t exactly vehicle friendly either in my opinion).

I love this game, but the vehicles are such a drag for me. Especially in Big Team Battle, because none of them feel like they do a good enough job. It’s all too claustrophobic for vehicle combat. The wraith on entombed get’s killed within seconds of being driven, and the scorpion on Recurve was taken out because it wasn’t doing it’s job properly.

This really is my only complaint. The vehicles just aren’t what they should be. It’s not like I’m going to stop playing this game because of it, but I believe it would make the game a whole lot better if vehicles could do their job.

No hate intended, but I’m a firm believer of constructive criticism.

I hate that when I’m trying to hijack an enemy tank, I get on top of it, but haven’t quite boarded yet, they move, and somehow splatter me.

hate how I see the hijack option on a ghost and just one millisecond screws me over…

I hate using vehicles in this game. A buff would be nice.

at least make the physics better and controls better and we have better a perfect Halo 5 Read this 343, snickerdoodle read it!!!

Check this thread for terrible physics.

Snickerdoodle or any moderator here are not 343 employees. They are all volunteers who are in no way affiliated with 343.

That’s another point I forgot to mention.

It it is way too easy to splatter someone. It’s absolutely ridiculous how little it requires. That is absolutely broken and needs to be fixed.

Also, I’m sure a lot of handling issues would be solved if they made the vehicles heavier. That don’t feel like they’re totally solid. Like plastic.

Do you mean to say that they do it for free?

Yeah, they do.

Halo:CE did it best. Copy & Paste…well you know I mean

im just putting this out there for you guys but im pretty sure the physics are tied to the game engine so they cant just go in and fix them

This is probably the worst game in the series when it comes to vehicular content, which is a real shame as the core gameplay is by far the best. It doesn’t seem like this aspect has been given the care or support it needs. The vehicle sections in campaign felt far too corridor-like, in Warzone they’re too weak and in Arena they’ve really been ignored. BTB is floundering in Halo 5 and I really do think more needs to be done to make these parts of the game attractive to players.

I like it. Because of the light-weight, it makes vehicles like the Ghost ACTUALLY feel like it’s a hovering thing that shouldn’t have friction. Nothing’s more satisfying than shooting a driver out of a ghost, and watching it glide to a stop like it realistically should, instead of stopping mid-air and dropping down after it’s pilot is dead.

Once the driver is killed, or leaves the vehicle, the Ghosts ‘anti-gravity/levitation’ drive deactivates, which is why it should theoretically drop immediately. The problem with these physics is that nothing seems to work correctly, especially when it comes to UNSC vehicles.

Serious reprogramming is needed.

Hogs feel a little better once you learn you have to control them in midair. But they still feel off… Can’t argue that.

It doesn’t instantly shut-off, though. It’s not like anti-gravity(which is technically energy) can just be gone. It has to ease out of it.

Besides, I think Halo 5’s vehicle physics is part of the reason you can stand on it now. Which I find quite entertaining, even helpful.

I dunno lol. The method of operation is not something that exists yet, or may even exist at some point. Maybe one way of looking at it is with an electromagnetic field. As soon as it is deactivated, whatever it supported will drop. An you are right that it might not be in an instant, but waves that travel at the speed of light sure might feel instant.

Maybe. Gliding to a stop just feels right anyway. If we can keep that, and the ability to stand on top of vehicles, I’m perfectly fine with literally any change they make to the vehicle physics.

Completely agree on the physics. I don’t know what happened because I felt the physics in halo 4 were quite good. Now it reminds me of reach where a pebble will cause your warthog to flip uncontrollably. I wonder if this is even something they can fix post launch but I really hope they do.
