I think that the updates for halo 5 are way too big and take awhile to download. I don’t know how the ghost of meridian update was 8 GB, when it had around the same amount of reqs as the other updates, which were pretty big as well.
Please 343 can you try to reduce the size of the updates because i know a lot of people (including me) get worried when they download things that take up a lot of space.

I know how you feel but i dont think that will happen alot of people what more in their updates and that requires more space.
I think the update size might be related to the overall performance of the game. I feel like rather than “updating” files they are just adding to them so a lot of storage is used on things that just aren’t being used. Hard to explain what I meant but it might be since they are pushing them out monthly that the updates aren’t optimised.
For clarity here, the 8GB size of the last DLC update was due to the Warzone Firefight beta also being included, that way there wasn’t another large download for today.
Yeah, my halo 5 is 81.2 GB. That’s just way too big for one game! MCC isn’t even that much and I has five full games on it and all the dlc for them. It kind of sucks when you’re waiting for an update, it finally gets here, and you have to wait for the huge download
It is so annoying where i live i only get 85 GB of internet data a month and it wants me to use 42 GB of my internet on the biggest update ever and i have the disc so it should all be on the disc why do they not put it all on the disc.

It’s not on the disc because all of the current content wasn’t released / available prior to the launch of the game, that has only been made over the last 10 months of the games release. It’s possible they could re-release discs that have everything pre-loaded, but there are still updates on the way so you’d end up having to download stuff anyway.

No sorry, the update system on the X1 isn’t like the 360 where you could do that. The X1 downloads only the difference between the latest updates on your machine and what’s in the store (why you sometimes see people with varying sizes of downloads when an update comes out).
Games in this Generation are big, want best graphics? better framerate? big campaings or history modes? this is not the xbox360, accept that. For this reason new xbox S comes with 2 TB & you can add external hard drives.
High tech = Big size. We must ‘update’ our minds. Anyway i want better games, not lesser sizes. Priorice…

But some of these updates had much less content then halo reach and they took up more space.

Yes i know, but Reach is a Xbox360 game from 2011, past generation. Another system, another gen, another times.

I am with you 100% on this! My 41GB update was ridiculous… why a secondary disc is not sent out with the updates on, is beyond me… plus the 80GB install size takes up a huge amount of space on my 1TB drive… depending on the size of game… I’ll only be able to store 8 - 10 games max on this console!
I know it can be annoying manage this big sizes but any AAA game is 25-60 GB in this gen. Considering that Halo5 is very bigger in contents than other FPS is logical have more weight. I have assumed to buy an external hard drive for this gen, also without Halo. There are cheap 1-2 TB hard drives now
I got my xbox one as a gift and I cant afford to get a bigger hard drive. I hope they update the game’s compression rate, or I’m going to have to uninstall the game until they do, or until usb hard drives go on sale and im blessed with enough money… Tough times and getting even more tough…
