Update Needed, game is Broken

343 Industries,

Halo Wars: Definitive Edition has a few major issues at this point.

  1. By far the biggest issue is getting a code to play the game. Calling 1(800) 4MY-XBOX for 40 minutes to get a code to play the game because the orginal code was never sent. Note that in order to download the game, you must wait for a code to be sent to you via Xbox or email. The game is not ready for download, and if you are the unfortunate individual who preorded Halo Wars 2 expecting to play Halo Wars: Definitive Edition in the same day. Well you will need to wait because, the code could take 7-10 days to be generated. This is unexceptionable considering the 360 version of games is playable. Furthermore, has any game that has a launch date, and not be playable the same day is basically a FU to the consumer.

  2. The game no longer has matchmaking. It is a search criteria based game, thus making it even more difficult to find a game. As of December 20, 2016 that is impossible.
If you ever played Halo Wars on the 360, the game can take up to 1-10 minutes to find a game. Now you are just need to be lucky to find a game.

  3. The multiplier search is confusing, is it even working? Only getting “Search returned no results. Please consider adjusting your settings and try again.”
When the search settings are Any for Mode, Map, and Players, there should show at least one game.

  4. One of the most biggest mistakes is the inability to change your Leader in Multiplier. You choices are only Captain Cutter, but for private games you can change your leaders. How was this issue not fixed before launch? Please 343 Industries or Creative Assembly, give us a definite answer on a update.

For someone who has play Halo Was for over 1900 hours, and greatly enjoyed playing sense 2009, shouldn’t need to write this, but someone needs to say something. If anything 343, put back the old matchmaking system, and allow the player to change their leader in multiple.

I imagine as codes have just started rolling out, not many people have received their code yet. Those that have will likely still be downloading and installing. Seems to be a few troubles for some users redeeming codes (workaround here until the team get get a fix out).

Regarding your first point on launch dates, the official launch date for the game is in February. What we have right now is early access that’s beginning to roll out today to those who pre-order before, I believe, December 14th. Most should start to receive their codes today with later pre-orders being rolled out in waves over the next few days.

  1. It’s early access, the game isn’t actually out yet. It’s not launched any more then Subnatica is.

  2. The multiplayer isn’t implemented yet

  3. 2

  4. 1 and 2

Edit: Ok apparently multiplayer is supposed to be online, but the official xbox news is it was due to be released Feb along with 2, so it being two months early out expect bugs like 4.
