Update: I Am Still Not Buying The Battle Pass

Despite it being 5 weeks since the multiplayer came out, I’m still not tempted to put $10 into the BP for the sake of unlocking Halo Reach armor when I could have unlocked them for free.

Anyone else that bought it, that’s up to your decision but as a die-hard Halo fan I’m not gonna cough up a cent. So I’ll still be wearing my Recruit armor proudly with various coatings and such.

I want to see for this feedback I could offer like let us earn a limit amount of credits per week or tiers that have credits in the Battle Pass so you can accumulate enough to buy the next Season. For instance there could be 1,100 credits in the Battle Pass which should suffice until the next season so you can buy it and etc.

The only other armor core I have is the Samurai one from the event but other than that yeah. I think the only helmet I’m gonna unlock won’t be until tier 81 and I’m at 30. So… that means I gotta grind this game everyday daily to make it that far. I have some XP boosts so hopefully that should jolt me faster. So yeah here are my thoughts on the multiplayer and armor customization!

Let me know what you think!

But you can’t unlock them for free, so the argument is kinda not an argument.

Don’t buy it, nobody is forcing you to lol.

And you’re not locked out of the game because of a completely optional choice you decided to make/not make.

Keep enjoying the free gameplay, there’s nothing wrong with that.

Seconded.
I might consider buying battle passes in the future (as well as the campaign) once Coop and Forge are out, but I don’t support incomplete releases.
In the meantime I’ll grind the pass to level 100 without buying it, just to prove a point.
In fact, that could have been a neat reward, getting the pass for free after completing it, with the downside of not being able to use any of the armors unlocked along the way until then. But I’m not holding my breath.

Use Xbox reward points. They don’t get a cent and you get it.

after finding out 343i gutted half the battle pass so they can sell bungie armor they didn’t even make for obscenely high FOMO prices in the shop, I regret giving them my money lol

I don’t think I have enough reward points to put into money. I stupidly spent like most of them on those raffle rewards like the Xbox Series X Battlefield 2042 Edition. Yeah I’m never lucky with them.

Anyone who owns gamepass gets the complete game for free. Anyone who doesnt gets the multiplayer for free.

How else are they gonna make money?

I should add that it’s a bit absurd that theres pretty much no customization outside of the battlepass, but even so, its a first person shooter, you cant even see your character for 90% of the game.

This.

They just walk around the map and look at the dead Spartans armors.

same could be said for TF2. you can’t at all see your character until death. and yet… you can earn and get certain random cosmetics alla the crafting system in which you use just by playing the game. or even as a random drop. there’s even the pve mann up mode which has a small chance to give something. it’s about player expression, how people see you. which has been a thing in halo since 2 and technically CE. player expression alongside the gameplay.

I understand the expression side of things, but it goes back to my main point. Participating in the game is free of charge, if you feel the need to express yourself, then show your support for the devs and pay the small premium. Once again, they gave you a free game.

a free game that no one asked to be free -v-
but i digress. again i bring up TF2. it’s free to play as well, and like infinite, most of the cosmetics are paid needed. fine, whatever, support the devs.
but valve at least through the players many bones to keep playing, whiles not giving them too much. crafting system, random drops, mann up mode, even certain events like scream fortress or the cristmas drop gives the players something whiles also having a fun game. and also keeping the better or highly valued cosmetics being the paywall. that all seems fair
343 has given the players a bone of the weekly challenge, sure… but that’s it. the free bp, also sure… but they offer so little. especially compared to TF2. i’ve gotten many items for free in TF2 whiles also being happily willing to pay valve for a bit more and supporting them. but in infinite… so far, i just actually don’t want to support them

Cool…(typing this part to reach 20 characters because OP’s post is absolutely pointless like this sentence.)

Same. I never spent real money on an in-game transaction before, but I bought the BP out of fomo. My honest logic was “this system is so bad, it’s bound to change. I don’t want to miss out on the things there”.

And yeah, they said the bp wouldn’t expire. But they also said a number of things they walked back on, so I didn’t feel secure on that. Now I have big time buyer’s remorse, though. So until things are better, I’m gonna rock only free cosmetics and maybe some campaign stuff.*

All Grey, No Pay. This is the way!

*though I mostly use mcc for multiplayer unless my friends are wanting to play Infinite w/ me, since there’s more options.

I mean…… TF2 has been out for well over a decade. Now i have no idea what the state of the game was at launch, but i can imagine it wasnt as it is currently. I’m sure there will be 100% free armors in halo given time. I already said it, i think its a bit absurd that theres basically no free customization outside of the battlepass, but again this is a business trying to make money off a free product that just launched.

TF2 you mean dead game TF2? The one that Valve does nothing for beyond barely keeping it alive…lol

Guys 343 has tweaked the XP gains, challenges and putting playlists in place.

The game at its core is great, at this point the whining over the BP is just that whining.

aye, fair point. it did take valve a while to start throwing players bones. it took them two years to add the crafting system when cosmetics and taunts where first added. or at least were more prominent.

so i suppose we’l have to wait and see. as you said it just launched not a few days ago. wait until everyone has settled down, and 343 starts rolling out updates

I have been playing Valve games for a long time, Dota 2 since release and they outsource most of their cosmetics.

They have a great system but trust me every TI with the battle pass it’s the same…never good enough

My logic on the BP is that’s it’s 10 bucks and I’m gonna play regardless, if I get sweet stuff unlocked along the way great!

I’ll prob throw 10 bucks every new season, gonna take me a bit before I get to 70 bucks…

It’s an open discussion board, if you didn’t want to hear it you don’t have to read it. Simple as that. You are being the worse person by coming here and downing someone because of their opinion. Let them be, if you don’t agree then tell them. If you agree tell them. Don’t come in here and tell someone no one cares about them. That’s simply being a bully

I’m sure someone cares about them. We just don’t care that isn’t or hasn’t purchased the Battlepass.

who is this… ‘we’ you’re refering to?
