Now that you guys over here at 343i finally are officially in control of Halo, we would really appreciate it if you could update Halo 3’s Matchmaking and fix some things about it.
-Team Doubles-
Regarding Gametypes:
-For Objective Gametypes
–Option A: Remove objective altogether. (This I prefer)
–Option B: Remove 1 Flag, Add BR starts to every other objective. (There’s not enough players in a 2v2 to make objectives work with AR starts. Specifically in oddball they can just run around the map and you can’t do anything about it with an AR.)
-Up the weighting on Team BRs and lower the weighting on objective games.
Regarding Maps:
-Remove all Sandbox Maps, or exchange them for maps that are good.
-Add Ghost Town for Slayer
[Personal Request]: Remove Cold Storage. Honestly the worst map in Halo 3; even worse than Orbital. It takes no skill and revolves around crouching with shotgun, rockets, and sniper.
Team Slayer:
Remove Orbital and Tundra, these maps are terrible for competitive play in both layout and spawn points. They are all completely random and make no sense. Random is not what needs to be in Ranked gametypes.
Double EXP:
Since you guys don’t want to keep adding a playlist every weekend, just add some type of permanent DBEXP Playlist which would be a mix of a bunch of the DBEXP gametypes. This game has lost a lot of popularity now, so there’s no reason to not do it permanently, as a “for-fun” playlist. You guys don’t even ban for exp boosting anymore so why not?
Other:
Remove Action Sack: Incorporate it’s gametypes into the new DBEXP Playlist
Remove Rumble Pit - there’s no reason to have this active.
Remove Team Mythic - pointless, the map pack has been out for a long time now.
Remove SWAT - Add the SWAT gametype into the new DBEXP Playlist.
Remove Snipers - Add back to either Social Slayer or the new DBEXP Playlist.
Add a Ranked Team Flag playlist - This is a wild dream at best, but I think it would be really fun. Change nothing from how it was when it was DBEXP.
Bungie decided to just let Halo 3 rot, and that isn’t right. Halo 3 still has a community of a few thousand people, and it needs updated. Monthly would be nice, but ideally, quarterly would be best. People still play Halo 3, and I’m sure a lot of people would appreciate it.
The Playlists would be as follows:
Ranked:
Lone Wolves
Team Slayer
Team Doubles
Team Flag
MLG
Social:
Social Slayer
Social Skirmish
Multi Team (Could be taken out, or added into DBEXP Playlist)
Social BigTeam
DBEXP (permanent)
I think this would bring a welcoming, fresh change into Halo 3, while fixing a few of the current issues. Feel free to add input, guys.
Other:
And take AR starts out of ranked. AR is a terrible spawning weapon and in high ranked gametypes it gets completely unfair when it is AR starts. One mistake and it’s over, especially when people in different countries are playing each other. Halo Reachs ranked playlists are all DMR starts, and that may have been one of the few things that was done right with Reach. Make Halo 3’s ranked playlists all BR starts all the time.
(Another wild dream) Title Update Halo 3:
Add a LOCALE search
Put your global rank next to your level and move the playlist rank to either the otherside or in their service record.
Map Issues: A lot of maps are completely unbalanced and one sided. There are many games where the match is decided based upon the opening spawn point, which is BS.
Guardian: Elbow Spawn is unfair. They get free Sniper, OS, Camo. The people spawning shotgun side literally cannot get camo if the sniper side does the opening rush correctly. So that leaves the shotgun spawning side with a shotgun, and the bad side of the map, possibly already down some points if their person rushing camo dies - which is very likely.
Cold Storage: People spawning high side get free camo, snipe, rockets, and advantageous side of the map.
Blackout: People spawning library get free sword, sniper, BR3, and advantageous part of the map. You can shoot the explosives and have it fly over to you.
Epitaph: People spawning high side get free camo, snipe, shotgun, and possibly rockets if they know what they are doing.
Obviously these aren’t the only problems with Halo 3, and these changes are mostly just my preferences and the preferences of the people I play with. I should add that these suggestions are coming from someone who solely plays 50 high ranked, so I might be a little biased towards ranked gametypes. Feel free to add any suggestions you might have, guys.
