So I know it’s kinda late into this game’s life, but I feel the leveling system should get a small update.
I’m not suggesting anything drastic. Just simply decreasing the xp requirements to reach each next level. It was done for Halo Wars on 360 too.
I get there might be some people who get mad cause they grinded the whole 50,000,000 xp, but we have to realize there’s absolutely no reason why a game should be so grindy in the first place. Especially a shooter. On top of having such high xp requirements we get abysmally low xp payouts. And if we’re honest, Halo 5 doesn’t really have many fun modes to make the grind enjoyable.
We need higher xp payouts, lower xp requirements, and more double xp weekends/events.
I know it’s something dumb to bring up at this point, but I really want to get to SR 152. However at 144 I already feel like each game I play barely makes a dent. I haven’t seen the bar move much at all. And without legendary xp boosts it makes the grind even worse. And even boosts barely help.
I know many people may hate the idea of lessening the grind but this is just my opinion or whatever. Let’s get as many people as possible to receive the reward in Infinite. No reason to have to have no-lifed Halo 5 for it.
Looking at it from another angle, why do you need to hit 152? The reward is specifically meant as a token for players who have played the game enough to reach max rank. It is not meant as just another thing to have in Infinite. It was announced without many details to encourage players to play H5. There’s no point grinding for something you have no details about if you don’t enjoy the game. Keep in mind this is coming from someone who is not SR152.

Never said I needed to get to 152, but it would be nice to have whatever the reward is. I’m not against having little items to encourage players to play a game, but a grind like this is unreasonable. I know there are people who have done it but that’s not the point. The fact that it takes more xp to get from 150-152 than it does to get from 1-150 is absurd.
More so than anything I’m just really against super grindy stuff like this. Like, just because I didn’t reach max SR doesn’t mean I wasn’t as dedicated to the game/series as someone who did. I don’t mind having to reach max rank, just the amount of xp required, combined with how very little xp we’re given per match, even with legendary boosts, makes the grind feel very unrewarding.
Some people will complete the journey, some won’t. There’s no shame in not completing it. Also, keep in mind that nowhere has it been said that players MUST be 152 in H5 before Infinite drops to receive whatever the token is. That’s been an assumption by the fan base. You could very well still receive it after the fact. In my personal opinion, though, nothing needs to change about the grind simply because all you have to do is play the game. Win, lose, or tie, you get XP for every game you finish. It’s just a matter of how much you want to play. That there are people trying to finish the grind in a matter of a few months must be torture, though. Doable (if they’re already at a high enough level), but still torture.

My issue is really just the incredibly small amount of xp we get per match even with legendary boosts. I don’t mind a grind, I don’t mind having something to work for. I just feel it should be a little more fair or balanced or whatever. Throw some double or even triple xp weekends out there or hell even wholes weeks!
I feel a small reduction in the total xp needed (like they did in Halo Wars) and a slight increase in the payouts would be good and make the grind a little more bearable. There’s no reason to be stingy with xp.

The point is it is there to reward people who happen to play enough to obtain that much XP, not that it’s worth it for its own sake. 343 decided to make the max rank (X) amount of time / games played, probably based on a percentage of the population they felt would reach that milestone while keeping it relatively exclusive.
I’ve spoken to the sustain team about altering the XP payouts for playlists within the Arena and WZ Firefight. I received a response that was in general an agreement that they’d like to be able to make some adjustments, but the problem as explained to me is that to make those changes requires resources that are currently working on Infinite so… it won’t be occurring – at least, not anytime soon.
I did suggest that perhaps as a secondary option they could make Legendary XP REQ packs and Platinum REQ packs available for in-game REQ point purchase more regularly. Some time ago we did receive some free Legendary XP REQ packs which was much appreciated, but the best solution IMO is to simply make the Platinum REQ packs regularly available for purchase with in-game REQ points in similar fashion to how the Gold, Silver, and Bronze REQ packs are always available for purchase.
On the topic of the grind to SR152, I think it’s fantastic that they elected to have a very high XP grind. If you don’t reach it. No big deal, but I appreciate how it manages to incentivize a fair share of people to continue investing time into playing the game. I sure wish they would’ve added other means to gain XP like daily, weekly, and monthly challenges, but alas that wasn’t the case with H5G.

About the xp grind, again I think it’s fine having something to work for, I just feel the amount we have to gain against the amount we get per match is very unfair.
It doesn’t help that the modes we have available to play on aren’t very enjoyable.

That was one of my recommendations too, but they said that it causes some issues that they’d prefer to avoid which is why they won’t do it. It is what it is.
