I waited forever for this stupid update. Now it won’t let me play campaign AT ALL. It keeps crashing. Yes, I restarted, yes I powered down, yes I did ALL the standard troubleshooting. WTF. it’s bad enough it didn’t save correctly and I have to replay a mission I already did, but every time I restart it, wait for it to tell me there’s new stuff to buy, wait for the mission to load, and finally hit start…it just crashes.

The one with the particle cannon you have to protect. What difference does it make?
Everything worked perfectly fine until this ridiculous update.

I think I may have done that mission today, with no issue!
What platform are you on? And please list the exact steps from when you boot up the title to when the crash happens.

Did I not already do that?
- Turn xbox on
- Select halo wars 2
- Initial landing screen
- Annoying buy new leader screen
- Hit a to continue
- Select campaign
- Select last save point. Also tried selecting it from bottom left of campaign screen.
- Loading screen with a bunch of blah blah blah I’ve heard 12 times already today.
- Bottom right hand corner says hit a to continue/start
- Hit a
- Crash. Screen goes black, makes noise as if it is stuck in a loop.
- Automatically returns to xbox home screen, sometimes restarts fame on its own.
- Get really angry
Xbox one, as I have also stated/clued in previous posts…when I said I restarted my xbox.
Is there another order in which I would do things? Seems to me you’re only allowed to go in one order…I can’t play before I turn it on for example. It doesn’t matter. I’ve been trying to play for an hour and a half now and have shut it off and walked away. When I have the extra 5-7 hours of free time to get in touch with 343 for my money back I will. Thanks anyway.
Having the exact same issues on the exact same map I ran Xbox one update and then this update when I try to launch this mission I hear a weird buzzing noise and is crashes to home screen.
FYI to all, I think this update corrupts pre-patch save files. I posted this as a “Bug report” yesterday.
If you’re trying to continue a save in the campaign that you had prior to the patch then it might not work.
All my saves would not load after the mission brief/debrief.
Once I selected the mission from the “missions” tab and started over (without using a save) it worked just fine.
A small nuisance to me, but I can see this being crippling for someone playing on legendary with a save at the end of a mission since it basically means you have to start the mission over.
Hope this sorts this issue out.

Have you tried restarting the mission instead of loading a save?

Yes, I had the same experience a couple of days ago when the patch came out. Any save you made before the patch is probably corrupted. Try starting the mission from scratch from the mission select menu. Any future saves you make should be OK. Shows how much testing they did for the new patch though…

Honestly it really does show how little work MS AND 343 and CA do. It’s like they just patch most of the issues they seem to know about and don’t play test it at all…
At least you can get the game to load up. anytime I turn on my Xbox, I get a message saying installation stopped for Halo Wars 2, even tho it’s been downloaded since release. so I go and try to “reinstall it”, and it says the game is corrupted and needs to be unistalled reinstalled again. So I try to uninstall, and can’t even do that.
My girlfriend was playing For Honor when she got like 4 achievements out of nowhere. At first I was like oh sweet, but then I noticed they weren’t for For Honor but Halo Wars 2. Whatever the update did pretty much bricked my game. Very disappointed.
I can’t load my game on “Last Stand” on the xbox one.
If I start the mission over from the menu on legendary will I still get the achievement for completing the campaign on legendary?
