Out of all the previous titles of the Halo franchise, have you ever had those moments where you witness certain in-game objects, but never had the chance to use it? Well, here is your chance to list it, you know, in hopes that 343i might put it in. Here is a small list of what I do hope makes it in:
-Point Defense Gauntlet: Also known as the Jackal Shield. Honestly, how it went through four games (five if you include ODST) is beyond me. It could easily have made it as an AA in Reach.
-Bubble Shield in Grenade Form: Ever since Halo 3’s featured trailer (And Halo Legends: Spartan 1337), it struck most people that it would have spawned into the game in grenade form. Since then, it felt kinda watered down from a single use permeable equipment to a medic-in-a-bubble deal.
-Pelican: One of the trademarks of Halo. It is one of the highly asked vehicles to make useable.
Well, the Pelican was usable in Reach, and the Bubble Shield is much more balanced in its Halo 3 form. The Point Defense Gauntlet would be cool, yes, but hard to balance properly.
I would’nt really say it was useable in Reach since it was only done through an Easter egg.
As for the gauntlet, I could say that it would’nt last under sustained fire, even from ballistic weapons. Plus, you could make it so that you can’t equip two handed weapons while using it, and that you can only bring it to the forefront when you are crouched. So even if you use a sword with it, you will know to avoid close contact with the guy unless he is flanked.
For the Bubble shield grenade, I could actually see it being used for defensive and offensive purposes. If it is an impassable shield, be they bullets, vehicles, or players, then there is a ton of potential.
Defensive:
-Blocks off narrow passages so you can make quick escapes.
-Protects yourself from surrounding enemies.
-Throw it at an enemy and trap them so you can wait get away.
Offensive:
-Throw it at an enemy and you can trap it in its field.
-Pretty much everything opposite in the defensive sections.
Yeah, the Chopper was a really fun splatter rocket. Hopefully it will make a debut return since the Brutes are still pretty hard knock folks to just end the war.
I’ve never even seen the gravity rifle. Can’t say what it does, but 343 might include it. Chalk it up to another weapon to finish.
And Halo 2’s Shadow, a Covenant vehicle, never returned. Probably because it was so underused. The odd thing is, you couldn’t drive it, but you could get in the turret.
Halo 2’s Spectre has also never been seen since, but probably because it was essentially a Covie Warthog, and Bungie was just trying to make the faction sandboxes symmetrical.
Which wasn’t done with Reach, birthing the utterly insipid Focus Rifle, giving Elites no long-range one-shot-kill weapon to use in Invasion. Thanks, Bungle.
