Until dedicated servers exist...

…I’m not buying Halo 5, and therefore not buying an Xbone.

You could make the most perfectly balanced, solid, gorgeous game. Unless there’s no existent host advantage, then forget it.

Why even incorporate a “competitive” ranking system, if the people at the top are only there due to luck?

Not to mention, it’s stupid how host gets chosen more often if they quit less. I understand why, but it’s circular logic; A person does badly due to bad host, quits out, gets host less often therefore does badly due to bad host.

Double Team is the worst. Not for black screens, just Host in general.

The only people who play when I’ve got Host are terribad, so I can’t rank off of them. The decent people I could rank off of leave when they’ve not got Host (Which shouldn’t happen). The games I stay in to try and get rank off of good players, who have host, I get wrecked because it’s such a joke.

I’ll get shot when I’m around a wall, meaning any time I plan to duck behind cover it doesn’t matter that I thought about it because I can’t do it. People manage to steal Overshield from me, which is insanely unfair due to the damage melee does to Overshield’d opponents. They win 1v1’s because I apparently miss bullets, even though in the Theater mode I saw that I hit 14/15 BR shots and didn’t break shield.

Geez you got it bad, what playlists are ya using? I am almost always CTF or BTB and rarely have issues…

You do know they have already announced that the next Halo game on Xbox One will use dedicated servers and run at 60fps, right? The super low population in Halo 4 isn’t helping the lag issue either. Even with dedicated servers some players will still have an advantage. If they are closer to the server and have a lower ping time they will have an advantage. There is no getting around it in online gaming.

> Geez you got it bad, what playlists are ya using? I am almost always CTF or BTB and rarely have issues…

I care most, enjoy most, and play Double Team the most.
I noticed it less in the larger player cap playlists, too. I think that’s coz there’re more people to choose from, so there’s a higher chance of getting a decent host. That’s not to say I’ve not seen it in Big Team/CTF.

I didn’t know that. I don’t keep up with, or care for, Halo 5 news. Just look at all the hype and excitement revolving around Halo 4; wasn’t really the best payoff.

I understand PING exists, however it’s rarely to the point where people can kill you 1-2 seconds after they should be able to.

It always helps to make an educated rant. 60fps and dedicated servers are the only thing about the next game that has been announced so it’s not like it was too hard to follow. It wasn’t even really “Halo 5 news”, more like Xbox One news.

I’m just trying to help with your expectation of dedicated servers. They’re not perfect or all that much greater than P2P networks. I’m still shocked that Bungie decided to use P2P on a game like Destiny. That will be interesting for a MMO game.

@JRock

Nor do I follow Xbone news. I don’t plan to get one unless a huge amount of my friends get them, and it has some great games. From the looks of the games currently out, Halo 5’s probably the only hope, and that’s if God takes over for 343i…

Compared to what my, and my friends’, experiences have been like so far, D. Servers would be incredible. I’ve played PC games with D. Servers, and I was so bad to start with since it was such a different feeling. If a game claims to have any competition when it comes to skill, it needs to prioritise balance. This has not, but since Xbone, supposedly, will, let’s let the thread die.

Yep, its the most frustrating part about Halo 3 and 4. I play doubles a lot too so I feel your pain. The 1/10-15 games that isn’t a joke blowout against people I obviously should not be matched against always comes down to who has host. You can’t win against people who have the slightest clue how to play when you have to 6-7 shot them consistently to get a kill. And forget using walls as cover…

Ouch… this seems bad! I remember this one time on Reach, the game was lagging crazily!

We headshot-ed this one guy when his shields were down around five times! Still didn’t stop him from killing us with only a few shots. Then weirdly enough, as he’s walking off after the kill, he suddenly dies from a headshot from us! A bit too late there…

I hope that dedicated servers are used next time. I know it won’t solve the lag issues entirely, but they’ll certainly help!

…I’m pretty sure 343 said at E3 it’ll have dedicated servers js

:3

By most accounts, dedicated servers are ‘in’. Will they solve all our problems? Probably not, but they will be a step up from here.

If you’re having problems with Halo 4, I recommend removing DLC maps from your hard drive. I reinstalled Halo 4 after a month+ playing Halo 3, and I find games much faster now. Plus, it’s not like I ever got to play those DLC maps, so I don’t exactly miss them…

H5 is going to have cloud servers. This is really old news.

Halo 5 has already been confirmed to be getting dedicated servers. Indeed… from what I’ve heard, every Xbox Live game on the Xbox One is getting dedicated servers. Chill.

> …I’m not buying Halo 5, and therefore not buying an Xbone.

So what you really mean to say is that you WILL buy Halo 5, and therefore an Xbox One?

:stuck_out_tongue:

> …I’m not buying Halo 5, and therefore not buying an Xbone.

So until a month ago you won’t be buying an XB1? We already have dedicated servers and other cloud-sourced processes on that system, its an integral part of the platform.

First off its called Xbox One not Xbone.

The Xbox One is actually a great system and works perfect. Id have to say the Xbox one offers more then the PS3.5.

Also Halo 5 will have dedicated servers i for one prefer playing CoD Ghost on the xbox one then i do the 360 as the dedicated servers are already in place and work great.

I don’t keep up with Xbone news since I don’t have any interest in it, js.

Also, to the posts claiming that I’m now obliged to buy an Xbone, dedicated servers weren’t the only criteria required for me to pay out for the overpriced webcam.

You do realize the price is due to the hardware inside right? MS makes a pretty low profit on each one sold.

You really don’t do ANY of your own research at all do you?

We never claimed anything of the sort.

Overpriced webcam? Still better than the overrated h-drive.

The only reason the PS4 isn’t similarly priced is becuase Sony decided to selll them at a loss.
