Hey Spartans,
Hope you’re all well! I know many of you, like myself, have been grinding out the Commendations, and I found out something interesting last night about the dreaded Unstoppable commendation. I thought it was a cool thing to share, as I have not seen anyone else discuss it.
While playing with a friend last night, we ran into an Extermination game in the Elimination playlist. I died in the first round, but my team was able to clean it up, and I went on to go from 0-1 to 11-1 throughout the game. We ran through the team 5-0, and at the end of the match, I received an Immortal medal. I was just as confused as you are, but here’s why:
The Immortal medal reads “Survive all rounds in any Breakout gametype”. For Breakout 1.0 and 2.0, this simply means do not die whatsoever for the entire match. However, with Extermination, there is a bit of a twist. You may die as many times as you like in an Extermination match, but as long as you are alive once the round ends, the game will register you as “surviving” the entire round. Therefore, you may still earn the Immortal commendation after dying.
I spawned a few seconds before my team cleaned up the last kill, so I technically “survived” the round. I went on to not die for the rest of the game, and I was awarded an Immortal. This also helps to explain why the announcer says “Perfect round!” if your entire team is alive at the conclusion of a round, even if someone died and spawned throughout the round.
Granted, this is quite unlikely to happen, and I was simply lucky to have it happen to me last night. However, I still wanted to share this experience, as it may help you all in your grind in some small way. Cheers!
Great tip! Thanks for sharing

I did know about this but wasn’t too concerned, mostly because of this statement:
“Granted, this is quite unlikely to happen”
He’s not wrong.
But it’s still nice to know!

This made part of the difference in getting me over the edge to complete unstoppable (also the help of generous spartans like yourself! let me know if you ever want that favor returned btw).
I will caution however that this glitch isnt Ironclad either, and can be finicky at times. it’s a tad selective, but I have noticed that if you die and respawn too close to a rounds end (like the final 10 seconds or so) that the Immortal still won’t pop, also I have a theory that dying on the final round is an auto-disqualifier as I have failed to get it several times while being alive at the end of each individual round but dying on the final round at some point was a common theme.
If this ever happens it can be frustrating especially when you start second guessing your memory and wondering “wait was i dead at the end of a round at some point”, but nah I check some of my theatre files and this is a glitch that only works most of the time and not everytime.

Totally correct! It’s a small chance to happen for me, but hopefully it will close up soon
Only four Immortals left for me! I loved helping you cross the finish line, and if I need any help with these last few, I’ll be sure to ask. Cheers, my friend
Update: I have completed the Unstoppable commendation! As of thirty minutes ago, all of my Breakout commendations have been mastered. It is possible, my friends, and you can do it!

Congrats! Definitely one of the more stressful ones to achieve. With that behind you Stronghold victories should be easy stuff

Yes sir, especially with Core Play coming out this Thursday, I have a good shot to finish this up by mid-June
Hoping that your last Grunt mech kill comes soon too, brother!

It’s been got
Very satisfying to finally see that 100% on waypoint. Strongholds is my favorite objective playlist by a long shot, I know when Core Play came up for rotation I was able to complete my entire 5th tier before it was out.

Cheers, my friend! Thank you for the advice, and I’m sincerely glad to see you reach 100% completion. Great work!
