UNSC Vulture for Halo 4?

What Vehicle would you like to see/return in Halo 4?

Hi there, you may remember me from my older thread “UNSC Sparrowhawk in Halo 4?”.

Well today I have a new proposal for Halo 4. For too long have we been limited to four vehicle types in Halo multiplayer. Light Reconniscance, Light Air Support, Small land transport, and heavy ground artillery.

This is why I propose that a new vehicle type be introduced for Halo 4 multiplayer to step up the mark a little bit on the Big Team Battle multiplayer experience. I propose that a ’Heavy Gunship’ class be brought into Halo 4 multiplayer and Forge. This type of vehicle would focus on heavy armour, strong weaponry, but slow speeds and harder to dodge fire.

UNSC Vulture
The first vehicle I would like to introduce to this vehicle type is the UNSC Vulture. For those who have played Halo: Wars, you may be familiar with this face. The Vulture is a heavily armed gunship which is armed to the teeth with weapons. It is BUILT for war. Now, to be introduced to multiplayer, this vehicle would have to undergo a few modifications to make it less powerful. Perhaps reduce it to only have two rocket mortars which are used by two crew members who fires the rockets at anywhere within a certain radius. Another two crew members would take control of the machine gun turrets which are located underneath the ship and used in a similar way to the Falcon from Halo: Reach for clearing enemy troops, the rockets being for use against other vehicles mainly. The rockets would also be quite inaccurate like the Rocket Warthog so this is one downside.

Crew breakdown: 1 Pilot, 2 machine gun turret operators, 2 rocket mortar operators.
Weak Spots: Cockpit, machine gun turrets, engines.
Suitable Gametypes: Big Team Battle, Invasion (Offensive)

Covenant Vampire
So that’s the UNSC Heavy Gunship sorted. Now the Covenant, their equivalent vehicle is the ‘Vampire’ which is a large gunship which is built to fight against air units mainly, but it can also be used against ground units. The Vampire is equipped with a heavy Needler gun which is much more powerful than a normal Needler weapon. Two Plasma cannons are also part of the Vampire’s armament. These are the equivalent of the machine gun turrets on the Vulture and could act in the same way to battle ground units.

Crew Breakdown: 1 Pilot, 1 Needle Gun Operator, 2 Plasma Cannon Operators.
Weak Spots: Area between two ‘prongs’ on front, cockpit, engines, Plasma Cannons.
Suitable Gametypes: Big Team Battle, Invasion (Offensive & Defensive)

So that’s it for now, do post your suggestions and ideas on how this can be improved and hope that Halo 4 brings in a whole new generation of vehicles for variety purposes and open the doors a little.

I like the idea. A 5 seater heavy vehicle won’t be so great though. First of all, 5 players out of 8 means most of the team is causing chaos in this. And if they die, thats a Killtacular right there. Similar to why Bungie didn’t use a 5 seater Falcon in Reach.

Maybe a 2 seater? Pilot uses the primary rockets and the co-pilot could man a rotatable machine gun maybe.

It would be really cool to see a Vulture in Halo 4 because they are pure awesome. But I don’t see it happening. Who knows.

@Jake X28

That’s true, but they could always allow for 16vs16 battles online, and it can be done providing they come up with a solution to the lag problem we already encounter sometimes during BTB.

And if the enemy team get a Killtacular, then thats not a problem, because it will show that the vehicle can be taken down and you can get a lot of points for doing so, but don’t forget how many kills the players would get while in the Vulture in the first place, it will be justified.

Glad you like the idea, and I can’t see it happening either, but hey, who knows. Halo 4 IS supposed to be all new after all, new developer, new era, may not have to have as much continuity as other Halo games.

Also, don’t forget that they could always be destroyed by ground vehicles, perhaps also bring in the Missile Turret that was featured in Halo 3’s campaign.

wouldn’t it make more sense to make the vampire a 2 seater, one piloting it and firing the plasma canons, and one manning the turret? the stasis beam could be a weapon switch similar to the banshee, but whoever would switch to it would be up to balance.

for those of you who don’t know the vampire was a mainly a anti air vehicle, and wouldn’t use the needle turret against ground targets.

@Effegyofman

If in Halo 4 the online player limit for one game is still 16, then your idea will be best actually. 1 player piloting and operating the Needle turret for anti-air/vehicle use, and the 2 plasma cannons operated by 2 players. The Vulture would be the same. Missiles are operated by the pilot and the two machine guns operated by other players. This would be good I think, would make the vehicle much larger than any vehicle so far (Perhaps about the same size as the Elephant but different proportions) but not too overpowered. Good thinking Effegy

It all really depends on the Multiplayer systems Halo 4 has…

If it’s just like Halo: Reach or Halo 3, then no.

But if they do some innovative stuff (They had a Global Warfare gametype for Halo: Reach pre-release with massive battles, I believe A.I. included) and have giant playlists and more than 8v8, I love this idea.

Halo Wars was a freaking great game and had a lot of great ideas. Halo 4 could possibly incorporate some of them… but it also depends on if they come up with brand new Allies and Enemies or keep the UNSC and Covenant involved as well.

Right now, I’d be psyched for it.

But to be realistic, until we know more information, all likelihood it’s a big fat no.

I like this idea

I like the idea of a vehicle that you don’t have to be piloting or riding in to be on, like the elephant. Maybe a vehicle that also serves as a base?

I’d suggest maybe a 4 seater vehicle. Pilot, 1 Rocket Mortar, 1/2 MG Turrets. Maybe

Probably only 2 people. 1 Pilot (controls a MG turret) and a Rocket Mortar.

The Vampire as well, except I would suggest that the Pilot controls the Plasma Mortar, and 2 gunners who have needler turrets.

Don’t get me wrong though, this is an excellent idea.

I would like to see a drivable pelican.

> I would like to see a drivable pelican.

A Pelican would be pretty cool too. I think that should be more of a Forge vehicle though. Especially if it was capable of transporting people in the back. I like the Vulture/Vampire better for Matchmaking.

They could do that Global Warfare gametype as a playlist in Halo 4, maybe for 12v12 teams and have more vehicles than normal, with larger maps with huge spaces between the bases, that way we can truly have wars that don’t consist of just people trying to DMR from one base to another.

I think it would truly add a whole new perspective for the multiplayer not only for Halo 4, but the whole new trilogy, a new age for multiplayer without taking away the classic Halo multiplayer atmosphere.

Everybody is right here about us needing a heavy transport Vehicle. They need to add it to Matchmaking. But with two key requirements. Allowing us to get lots of kills and win for our team. But to still make it so there is a reasonable amount of players inside. So when the vehicle is finally overrun and destroyed, the other team doesn’t get a Killtacular or Killamanjaro. It must also be able to be hijacked. Both in pilot and gunners, possibly even riders.

I agree with both requirements.

That’s why I would suggest no more than 4 for the Vulture. 1 Pilot, 1 Rocket Mortar, 2 MG gunners. And 3 maximum for the Vampire. 1 Pilot (who also controls the Plasma Mortar), and 2 plasma / needler gunners.

That would prevent any easy killtaculars and killimanjaros. And making the hijack-able is a great idea.

haha why don’t you just ask for a scarab in multiplayer while you’re at it.

While I really love this idea, wasn’t the Vampire a LOT smaller than the Vulture? Like, Falcon sized almost? The Vulture didn’t really have a Covy equivalent. But the idea still works.
I can just imagine being on foot and seeing a Vulture looming closer and closer, then that OH @$%# moment.

Both should have a low altitude limit though.
