UNSC vs. banshees

it is arguably the banshee was the MOST destructive vehicle in halo reach and EVERYONE knows it true. In the right hands ive seen people decimate teams to the point of rage quiting from just ONE banshee. mostly because of the banshee bomb, it is indeed fun and VERY powerful to use. Perhaps too powerful, yes i know people are like no it isnt dmr fire take it out but honestly how many people gang up on a banshee when it has been deployed… most 1 or 2 sometimes more. the banshee is a scorpion tank of the skies, and the falcon is the warthog of the skies… now does that seem fair to you?
so he is my arguement

the falcon was not a counterpart to the banshee. Bungie said it themselves it was a transport vehicle with defense turrets not full assault armaments. its speed was a big factor in its ability to preform as a decent attack vehicle but it was easily overpowered by a very well place shot of a plasma pistol (ive done it many times even from as far as half of the spire) i feel the unsc hawk would make a good counter part ot the banshee with the forward 40mm cannon was taken off, the two Gauss turrets can be easily powered down to match that of the banshee bomb. but the falcon was now way equal with the banshee,EVEN with two turrets they did not have the turning radius need to always place ur shot right and when that happened (happened a Yoink! ton of times) u where left to the pilot to see if he can notice it and turn. now with all this in mind you must understand everything was left up to the pilots flying ability which wasnt always up to par.

They could just nerf the Banshee. :\

^^^^^THIS.^^^^^

I haven’t read your whole post yet, but I’ve never had a problem with enemy banshees. I’ve had some good sprees in them, but I assume I was playing some bad opponents. All it takes is some attention with DMR’s to bring a banshee down relatively fast, before it has enough time to pass by more than a couple times. Then again maybe there are playlists without DMR starts that have banshees on the map, but none that I’ve played.

Edit: Now after reading your post I don’t understand what the problem is. In multiplayer at least, the falcon doesn’t need to be equal to the banshee. They can have different roles. As far as balancing, that just means both sides should have equal access to any banshees.

Just make the Banshee spawns more common and increase its health but remove the bomb.

> They could just nerf the Banshee. :\

They MUST nerf the Banshee. If I see anyone getting 31 kills with a Banshee in Halo 4, I’ll be pissed.

or maby are old friend the hornet?

> or maby are old friend the hornet?

Which is even worse than the H3 Banshee…

The Banshee was stupidly powerful in Reach despite being made of paper like the other vehicles. I don’t want paper vehicles but the functionality of most of the Banshee needs to be way toned down from Reach.

1.) The bomb needs a nerf. Its blast radius was ridiculous and it was overall too powerful. Not to mention the projectile itself was huge. It was like firing a grid and you could hardly miss and it had lock on to boot.

2.) Evade also needs a nerf. It shouldn’t break lock and it most definitely shouldn’t be so fast.

3.)Cannons need a buff. it was a complete waste to use the cannons in Reach. They were to slow to be worth using when you can fire your own personal grid ever few seconds.

The Banshee in Halo 3 was nearly perfect. Evading fire and lock on weapons took skill and forethought where the Reach version basically has an auto dodge button by comparison. The cannons were ideal for taking out infantry and not useless against other vehicles. The Bomb was useful with out superseding the cannons and didn’t nuke vehicles easily. Most importantly of all you actually had to AIM the bomb. The cannons and bomb actually were used together to be most effective.

While the Banshee in Halo 3 was effective it was still vulnerable to all kinds of gunfire and even BR teamshots were an effective deterrent while not being irritating like the DMR and Sniper in Reach.

As for the UNSC side of things they could use some work. I want to see Falcons get some more maneuverability(specifically horizontally) in Halo 4. The Problem with the Falcon and the Hornet is that they have little ability to duck and weave through obstacles and gunfire like other vehicles can. Flying the Falcon in support of teammates is just not as enjoyable to me as say driving a Warthog. The Falcon doesn’t have the kind of maneuverability deserving of a"Warthog of the Skies"

And for the love of god give the Falcon(or a variant) some proper passenger seats capable of carrying small objectives like theflag, bomb, or oddball. I’m sure many machinima creators will also thank you for it.

AGREED!!! im not saying the falcon is the warthog of the skies that is what bungie said

but i like the proposal of the hawk as a replacement to the hornet as a full assault vehicle a counterpart to the banshee. the pilot using the gauss cannons on the sides and a second passanger operating a machingun torrent on the front nose much like an apache helo

I have to put my two cents in this.

Me + a Friend or two in one Falcon = Death to any ONE Banshee.

The thing that the Falcon had over the Banshee? Speed and Strafe (when in the right hands of course)

Literally there are times where a banshee would be trying to get me or come around me and I would just be strafing around it with one or two of my buddies on the guns easily destroying it within seconds, and when the Banshee would try to escape, it’s thrust was timed, our thrust was infinite, no banshee could escape, and with the right amount of planning, strafing, and movement, you could easily outmaneuver a Banshee bomb.

Just saying, but I agree, the Banshee was a bit OP in Reach, which is why I wondered why the Falcon didnt have it’s forward gun in MP like it did in New Alexandria.

i agree in the right hand it can be a weapon of raining death (falcn) but im talking abut the 80% of the time when u get a craptastic pilot who can flight out of a paperbag and cant put u in the right angle to shoot the damn banshee down before he evades and bombs the crap out of u

Scorpion? Gauss Warthog? Anyway, the Banshee may have great firepower, but its armor is weak as hell. Five (was four) sniper rounds or around three DMR clips will take it down. The problem is that it is always a full party who takes map control and has all the power weapons, it’s almost impossible to counter a spawn trap in BTB. It isn’t the Banshee’s fault, if 8 people are watching you spawning you just can’t do anything against it. The reason why the Banshee always gets the most kills is because it hovers around the spawns and is most of the time the first one to see the person and the fastest killer. If your whole team shoots the Banshee it will get destroyed in a few seconds, but the issue is that when a team with a Banshee is dominating you probably aren’t playing with a good/smart team who know how to take it out.

I myself only have encountered one spawn trap against my team when I went into BTB alone. Of course my team was dreadfull and didn’t have any mics so there was no way to do anything against the other team. I still managed to go 13-5 though by sneaking behind rocks and jump on their Scorpion every single time or getting one of them off gaurd in a cave or hallway. But that and just hiding somewhere is all you can do.

Well, my point is that it isn’t the Banshee’s fault, it’s your team’s fault because they can’t take the power weapons and gain map control. If you’re the better team you wouldn’t have any trouble taking a banshee out…

ok thank you for proving my point…it is all the teams fault and yes the banshee was the most destructive only because it was around more and had great firepower but u have to understand most of halo reach matchmaking was random team forming and how many of them have mics??? not as many would think so there will not be alot of team coordinating most of the time so that has to be taken into consideration. the only reasons people dont kill each other on a team is cuz it is in there best interest not to, but there is much team killing and fighting over power weapons( so many times ive been killed for a power weapon) but what im trying to get at is ur point is mostly invaild that it can be simply taken out (yes it can with team work or one pissed off person with enough time)but it does need a counterpart that can match it equally
