The UNSC use plasma?
In spartan ops and dominion the turrets you can spawn up can use plasma shots, something I didn’t know because I haven’t ever been shot by one.

if they can use it now why dont they?
I don’t think they know how to manipulate it properly yet and would rather focus their efforts on using energy weapons like forerunner stuff.
UNSC Infinity is an example it uses UNSC, Forerunner, and Plasma technology from the Covenant.
Rhino from Halo Wars was a Plasma based UNSC tank.
It’s not that they can’t, actually.
before the Covenant war, humans tried to weaponize plasma once before, and decided against it for the long run due to the research costs.
however, during the war, they picked the subject back up since working examples started falling into their lap.
they’ve got a prototypes and unique/specialized stuff that uses plasma, but nothing mass produced… yet.

Not exsactly the most remember able part of halo wars.
I think the UNSC is toying around with Plasma weaponry now that the war is over, but they have yet to found a use for it since they got all of that Forerunner tech from Trevelyan. The Rhino from Wars didn’t use the plasma-guiding algorithms that the Cortana got from the cruiser in First Strike. Any new Plasma tech is guaranteed to be more accurate and powerful then the Wars Rhino. That probably explains why the Plasma shot from the Dominion turret tracks.

UNSC has been trying to unlock Plasma weaponry since the beginning of the war, I think a few ships are actually outfitted (not entirely sure about that), the Spartan Laser is an example of one of their breakthroughs.

I think that has been around a little while before the Human Covenant War, just don’t quote me on that.

Not to mention that it’s not an example of plasma weaponry, since, you know, it’s a laser.
What I would like to know is what exactly the main guns of the Infinity are. I know there was a diagram comparing the Infinity to the Forward unto Dawn, and it listed its main armament as 4 MACs, but the weapons it uses against the Didact’s ship in campaign don’t look anything like MACs. In fact, they strongly resemble Covenant Energy Projectors. I guess one possibility was it was initially equipped with MACs, and then was retrofitted with energy weapons sometime between the Kilo-5 books and Halo 4.
