what is that beast?
my personal view on unsc tier 2 could be compared to that cousin wedding that you have to attend to
-couldnt care less, but must go through with it-
tier 1- sniper- marines, seems to be the meta.
tier2- ?
tier 3- tanks-wolverine
Tier 2 can be used to upgrade further your tier 1 units i get that mister cutter. But other than going air i really fail to see the point.
thoughts?
Been having a lot of success with 1 early kodiak with my infantry as Cutter

I usually just mix in a few Cyclops with my t1 army if I haven’t lost the bulk of it by that point and keep fighting for map control until I get to t3. Still have to be aware of what opponent is doing, if you see them going locust or air, you have to counter those with t2 units (wolves and Cyclops) until you get your t3. Also start doing my global upgrades at t2 so when I start pumping t3 units, my units are already stronger. Use t2 to keep them at bay until you can get your base killing army together.

I see… So you choose to embrace tier 2 quit a bit.
Dont you hit tier 3 way too late tho? Cyclops and upgrades costs A LOT of power.
Shouldnt it be wiser to give up map control at some point in mid game in exchange for a faster tier 3?

I am not the best at this game, and yes I can be delayed sometimes getting to t3… but every game isn’t played in a vacuum… I use tier 2 to hard counter the enemy usually, but it doesn’t always work, but usually I still have my t1 marines and snipers with a few hellbringers and have a lot of power coming in… If I can blow past it I do, but if they have locusts, air, scarab, or something, I need my hard counters to delay them until t3. I don’t know, I am not great but I feel I play pretty effective with Cutter when I am mentally in the game.
I prefer to rush for T3, so I only spend supply on units. My T2 compositions usually wind up being marines, nightingales, and Kodiaks, as those three units can pretty effectively hold out until you hit t3 against just about any opposing t2 composition. If the opponent throws in Shrouds, you do have to build a couple of wolverines, though. Otherwise the Kodiaks do nothing.

Not a bad idea…
kodiak will keep army at bay while nightigale gives u vision and heal marines.
Quit difficult to use it offensively tho.
Thanks!
Cutter tier 2 can be very strong if upgrades are timed with a close air support push. (Infantry level 2 and both marine upgrades). A lot of times this will end the game or at least destroy any expansions/army your opponent has allowing you to take a safe 3rd expansion and go tech 3.

I am not sure that close air support can be unlock that early.
and the time that it willl take to get 2 infantry upgrades is more enough time to get tier 3.
But generally speaking cutter do shine early and mid game. I did loose a few game because i was too greedy trying to reach T3 too fast.

Yeah, but the majority of UNSC heavy offense is t3 anyways. Vultures and Scorpions are the UNSC’s only really effective base-taking tools, so it’s fine to sit and defend until you hit that point. As UNSC, you either have to end the game very fast or draw the game very long, as Banished is dominating in the midgame.
I like Hogs, but they are only good at T3/Gauss. Hornets are T2. I think Nightingales are, too.

It doesnt scale well. Especially hornets vs banished.

Hogs are bad i think. I used to go hogs. But the gauss canon is very pricy and doesnt do enough.
If your looking to end the game at T2 then hornets or nightengale with infantry are the best options. Hopefully they buff the damage on the warthog chaingun so we can return to the golden age of warthogs as unsc

I agree they definitly need to do something about the hog. The problem is if someone choose to go hogs he/she d generally keep spamming them (like flamhog) so buffing the dps would be too much since it ll spread among all your spam. Maybe a dps bonus vs infantry? Idk. Something must be done. I have never seen hogs yielding positive results in hw2 so far.

I’m just taking about the chain gun of the un upgraded hog. This wouldn’t affect flame hog or Gauss which are both fine IMO. Right now it seems hogs are only useful against marines or grunts, I’d like them to also be useful for mini base or supply pad sniping
