In my opinion the UNSC has a dominate unit, which costs more power but cheaper resources, and the rangers vice versa. I wanted to know what everyone else thought about it. My issues are:
1.) Snipers are tier 1, rangers are tier 2. That is silly. Both sides should have anti-infantry units early.
2.) Snipers have the stun shot. Absolutely over powered. When they are in a group of 3 plus, if you are using a leader they are doomed to be stuck paralyzed. This should be nerfed just like the Anders sentinal spawn was.
3.) Snipers have a broader vision and can expose the fog of war, as opposed to the Rangers who are basic infantry.
If the rangers are not the counterpart to the snipers, give them an upgrade at least like swords or a better rifle because as of right now they are a nothing unit.
(I am an elite fan, and think they have been made into a joke in this game. Even the elite honor guard leader unit is a laughable mess.)

for the love of god give them a beam rifle that does just as much as the unsc sniper i dont care of it cost 600 power just let them have a chance to shine sense wraiths are geting a scorch nerf and unsc always run around with a band of cyclops and wolves
Banished have Suicide Grunts. I feel like that’s a fair trade.
I don’t feel like this is that overpowered. Is it great against heroes? Yes you could say that, but if you have other supporting units the Snipers should be overwhelmed.
I think this is fine. Snipers are squishier than Rangers.
They aren’t the same unit, and I don’t really want them to be. I would like Rangers to have some upgrade that gives them some utility, like a cloak or perhaps an EMP grenade. Something to make it so they aren’t just an a-move unit.
P.s. What do you mean by “expose fog of war”? All units can do that, do you mean detect?
I feel like this is a tired subject. Banished and UNSC units are supposed to be different. Snipers ROF is trash compared to rangers. Rangers DMG is trash compared to snipers. Rangers can attack other units while snipers can’t. They’re both anti-infantry, but they work differently. I really don’t see a reason for one to be on the same level as the other when they’re intended to function differently. Personally, I’d like to see a rangers special unit for a leader. Instead of rangers you’d get Jackals.
Snipers can’t shoot anything else and there’s been times where a bunch of rangers make up for enough damage to kill one or two units which comes very handy some times.
Each unit has advantages and disadvantages.
Edit: though I agree rangers (as well as every other unit) should have more upgrades available.

I think they should have a cloak that is only engaged while standing still but can’t be detected. So while firing or moving it disengages while activated. Could allow you to move them to advantage points to where they are on par with fully upgraded snipers just by being in the better tactical location. I could see how it might be too much of advantage maybe.
On a side note. Anyone else notice there is no longer an advantage of having higher ground. Even though i’m up on a ledge I still get attacked by my opponent’s army.

Not sure if it was tinkered with but it depends on how high the ground is, for example in the small ramps that lead to expansion plots on that small map with 3 minibases behind your main you can see up if you have units nearby. But if you out them on the ramp near the middle mínibase on sentry they can’t see up unless they have air hovering on top.
Rangers are meant to be more versatile than Snipers, that’s why they can attack anything. Also, both factions have 2 anti-infantry units. UNSC- Hellbringers and Snipers Banished- Suicide Grunts and Elite Rangers. I do think Rangers need an upgrade though. And Snipers are supposed to have longer range and Line of Sight, they’re freaking SNIPERS lol

Ah. I’ve had success with this in the earlier months of the game but now it seems like no matter the terrain they still can be hit from all levels of elevations. I forget the map, but it has several high elevation spots with a sniper garrison sitting on it. I usually try to channel the opponents infantry through this “sunken” channel but still get attacked by the forces running through while mine are up on the cliff side.
Ill have to try it out more. Doesn’t happen frequently but when it does happen i’m dumbfounded lol.

The Elite Honor guard is actually useful in the mid-late game. Only if you upgrade him all the way. His cloak and speed is the only thing viable. He can outrun almost any unit fully upgraded.
I use him to get behind enemy bases without being detected and set up Gateways/Teleports. I’m a fan of Elites also. Used Arbiter heavily outside Cutter in HW1s. So naturally they are the only two I use HW2.
I’ve also used him in the early stages to disrupt early forces and it seemed to work. (with other units of course). But he really isn’t a go to Hero unit so I haven’ used him as much I would like anymore.
Matches are much faster paced and players skill level have risen since then. I was going on multiple 70+ win streaks in the months after release. They do need to make elites a better unit use in the game. Hell even Elites with Energy swords as a T1 unit.

I believe it is. It has the node in the middle of the map that is "sunken’ part of the ring. Elevation here is only slight. Then it has the cliff sides near all 3 bases around the ring.
Nodes off to the left and right of it that the most direct route to them takes you through a canyon/alley with high cliffs on both sides.
The clue is in the name. Snipers need to stay back and pick off their targets as they have a slow rate of fire and low HP. Rangers are more frontline they can fire quicker and take more damage. Neither should be the same. Now Rangers can fire faster I feel they are good anti-infantry. Keeping the units different keeps things interesting otherwise you’d have the same units but in different skins.
