UNSC Infinity perhaps a little to small?

In the e3 gameplay demo the infinity flies over chief, don’t you think for a 3 mile long ship, it’s slightly small?

Compare

Can you see how small it is compared to how big it should be? The infinity is supposed to be almost double the length of the spirit of fire, but it isn’t.

The ship was also flying very slowly, if i be generous and say it was flying at 200mph, it would of taken a full 1.5 minutes to fully fly passed chief, however it took around 5-8 seconds, this suggests that its traveling at around almost 500mph, although it’s impossible to tell, it certainly doesn’t seem to be flying that fast.

I though it was 3 KILOMETRES
Which is nowhere near 3 miles

I thought it was 3 miles as well

Nope. Look at it compared to a Covenant ship at the left of the screen.

Compare the look of it in that video, with pictures of other UNSC ships and you will see it looks way to small

Nope looks pretty big to me.

If it is supposed to be that long, then it is that long. I’d just chalk it up as seeing it in a weird angle.

That’s what she said!

It is 3 miles, actually.

Wait no, it IS 3 miles
Thing is though, it DOES ook 3 miles, it’s not that big a distance

It is that big. It was probably higher in the sky though than you think (and directly above him), so it gave the illusion that its smaller. This is reffered to as the Moon Illusion .

I also agree with SpreadJoeman123, 3 miles is actually quite a short distance.

nope, look at this it is WAY to small

I don’t see what you are seeing, it looks big enough.

What are you using as a frame of reference? Do you know the size of the buildings/ships around it, or how distant it is?

> I don’t see what you are seeing, it looks big enough.

It just looks way to similar in size the the FuD and pillar of autumn when it’s supposed to be much bigger

“The Infinity is approximately 5.6 kilometers (3.5 miles)…”

No, that is a Covenant CSO-class supercarrier, not a normal sized carrier, it is like 29 km long.

Here is a comparison between te two carriers, Infinity is about as large as the bottom one.

It is 5.6 kilometres (3.5 miles) long

It’s probably just perspective. A weird camera angle.

Guys read the OP I’ve made changed

I hadn’t thought about that, but you’re right. I think this is a case of performance limitations – designing the Infinity to be three miles long would make it a massive set piece in any scene that it’s in. The one that flies over in that cinematic probably isn’t three miles long. A good solution that I hope 343i has already implemented (given that they’re thoroughly entrenched in the polish and bug stages of development) is to add a layer of gray to it; give it the look like it’s that much farther away. But yeah, it shouldn’t pass overhead so quickly even so. I think it would’ve been interesting if the cinematic took longer, with Chief in the Infinity’s shadow for something like six full seconds. Meh.
