UNSC comparative strength at time of Halo 4?

Should war break out again, is the UNSC now strong enough to take on the covenant?

In the infinity multiplayer intro Lasky states words to the effect that humanity is now a dominant force in the universe. It would seem unlikely that humanity could grow so quickly after being almost decimated. In my opinion, based on the halo wiki and posts by others on these forums, it could be possible if the following points were taken into account.

1)Post-war boom, like after WWII would provide a huge economic boost
2)Covenant were prone to simply neutralising ships, rather than completely destroying them, therefore a high percentage of the new UNSC fleet would be comprised of salvaged ships which would have taken a fraction of the time to complete compared to brand new ships.
3)The technology explosion brought about by contact with covenant and forerunner tech would greatly decrease production time, and increase the strength/durability of weapons systems.

Im interested in everyone’s thoughts. I’ve been a halo fan since CE but I’m relatively new to exploring the wider universe outside of the games, so forgive me for any errors in my reasoning. Also I’ve searched through the forums looking for like posts and have found a few similar, but not quite the same so apologies if I’ve missed a topic or this is redundant. Looking forward to hearing some opinions!

why?

iuno how ships get owned by 1 missle… when orbital stations and fleets got owned in h2 and h3

Just curious really. The strength of the UNSC will obviously play a large part in the political relationship between the UNSC and the covenant, and any other species out there. Therefore, affecting future developments in the halo story as well as the amount of allied support we’ll get throughout future halo campaigns.

I think it’s possible and likely that the UNSC increased in terms of strength since Halo 3. Like you said, all the contact with the covenant and forerunner tech would’ve allowed them to discover and develop new forms of tech themselves.
