UNSC Armaments

I was thinking about the currently witnessed UNSC equipment and Vehicles that have been witnessed in the Bungie games and Halo Wars. The UNSC Marines Vehicles feels more like it was meant for fast attack, rather than undergoing a siege situation. Mobility over Armor and such.

I feel like we’ve only seen a very small portion of the UNSC and it’s armaments. Mainly the UNSC Marines specific equipment.

I’d really like to see more of the Army side of things, Which Halo Wars covered some. Vehicles like the Cobra, the Wolverine, and the Grizzly. The Grizzly could have been a vehicle that would have given the UNSC a main battle tank, but for whatever reason they didn’t go with the Grizzly concept art when modeling the Grizzly tank in game.

I’d personally like to see more variants of the Warthogs, particularly the passenger warthog. Or as more of an infantry transport, a sort of Warthog APC. The grizzly tank make it’s appearence in a halo game as a Main battle tank, with the Scorpion tank as more of a support, AT unit.

What do you all think?

I would definitely like to see more UNSC vehicles and armament, an APC of some sort especially, whether it be large like a Boxer or smaller like a Humvee, or both, because a Warthog is like a jeep, a light reconnaissance vehicle, as it has a lot of open areas for the driver and its occupants to get hit, and thus, wasn’t made to take a lot of fire.

I liked some of the Halo Wars vehicles, but I would like to see more as well. I know there is no air force, but I think it would still be cool to see an in-atmosphere fighter craft of some sort. There are two extremeties- the Hornet, which is more of ground support, and probably cannot reach very high altitudes or fly that high, and the Sabre (also Longsword and Shortsword), which is made for orbital defense.

I also wish there was a better-designed tank.

You want to see army ordnance?

Ha!

Dude they just found an abandoned shield world. They have the UNSC Infinity. Things are about to get interesting.

In future Halo titles, I wouldn’t mind seeing some of the Halo Wars vehicles return, though I don’t think that many of them would make for good gameplay.

Of the vehicles I would like to see return (Wolverine, Sparrowhawk, Locust, Vampire), I think that the Locust would probably be the best unit to play against, as it is essentially a budget Scarab.

The others would probably receive some level of nerfing to make them work. Notice how laughable the AA Wraith is as an actual anti-aircraft vehicle?
Rather than see them balanced for multiplayer or campaign, I’d love to see them at full power, even if they are limited to scripted events.

I would be happy if the Grizzly and Cyclops never made a reappearance. I’m not a fan of mecha as it pertains to the Haloverse, and the Grizzly always struck me as an awkward and unimaginative crossover between a Mammoth Tank and a Scorpion.
A heavier tank than the Scorpion can be done better, that’s all I’m saying.

Who says its a shield world?

Assuming it is, who says its abandoned?

Oh wow, it really does look like the Mammoth tank, I had to look that up; i never go tot play much Command and Conquer. But, rather than the Ingame model we got for the Grizzly, I was referring to one of the examples of Concept art. It looked amazing and i’m hunting it down right now.

The Concept art for the Grizzly Tank looks superior to to the Model. The one in game is disappointing compared to this beauty. I hope they recycle the design if they keep the Grizzly Design and come up with a new tank. That Concept looks like a main battle tank to me.

Not quite as bad as the Crucio Siege Tank from StarCraft 2 and the Cobra. There used to be a transformation animation on the StarCraft 2 website that synced pretty well with the Cobra on the Halo Wars website.

Never was a fan of that design either. I’d have to see it in an actual UNSC color scheme to render final judgment, but it was always a little ‘off’ to me. Too blocky and uneven or something.

That right there is the same thing, more or less, but better. Treads have more coverage in the front, the third set of treads is gone, and it looks like the crew actually has living room.

That’s the way it typically is with Halo Wars. ; )

Yeah such a shame, amazing concept art, but i guess they didn’t have the funds to do the graphics so they settled with the stylization they used in game. Sadly detail was lost in the process.

May Halo one day have a Tank that won’t turn into a melted husk from a Wraith shot. I would personally like to see the Scorpion Tank and Wraith both get boosts in their resistance to each other, so an engagement would be a slugging match rather than one or two shots going off at the most.

I think he’s talking about the Onyx shield world.

It will be intresting indeed to see what the UNSC does with all the Forerunner tech.

The Cyclops II from Halo 4 looks like it would wreck any modern day vehicle.

Personally i would like to see a Harrier like jet for the unsc, rather than helicopter type vehicles like the falcon and hornet. also i would like to see a vulture in one of the future halo games, and any other halo wars vehicles, whether we drive/pilot them or not, just to see them.

The UNSC does have an APC, it just never made it into Halo Wars, also the UNSC has planet based sea navy/airforce on Earth.

Never was a fan of the Halo Wars additional units. They always seemed like last minute bolt-ons and don’t have that design focus of the originals like the Warthog or Ghost.

I would like to see some new UNSC vehicles though, as long as they make sense. I don’t want to see combat motorbikes though, because then its a slippery slope until we get combat snowboards and combat pogosticks.

A motorbike would be good, if it had 2 small turrets at the front, and was faster than the mongoose, them it would be a good contender against a ghost and a good pursuit vehicle.

We need a smaller, tank-like vehicle that the driver can control the turret. Like the revenant is a smaller version of the wraith.
Maybe the cobra or an apc. maybe some kind of warthog that has a driver controlled turret like the mobile cobra, or a weaker version of the lock-down cobra and is more armoured with doors.

Agreed the tank combat should be more tank combat. I want it to be realistic. You know in reality the strongest part of the tank is the front armor. The weakest is the back. I want it to play like that. Where they tank can take multiple hits to the front. But it can only take 1, or 2 hits in the back. The sides of the tank can be half of the front damage resistance.

Or even this:
Wraith:
Strong points:
-Armor.
-Weapon damage.(Can kill Scorpion tank in 1-2 shots.)
-Boost.
-If you know how to use the cannon. You can hit almost anywhere on the map

Weak points:
-Speed.
-Mobility.
-Hard to cannon.
-Slower reload.(Half of Scorpion tank.)
-Unlike the Scorpion where it’s point and shoot. You have to use it like a motor.

Scorpion:
Strong points:
-Speed.
-Mobility.
-Easier to use cannon.
-Faster reload time.

Weak points:
-Cannon does half the damage of the Wraiths motor shot.
-Armor is half the of the Wraith.
-No boost.
-Unlike the Wraith where you can use it like a motor. It’s point and shoot.
