Thought it may be fun to discuss the new UNSC Archive videos from a lore perspective!
What was everyones thoughts on how this fits in with the lore?
Episodes
Unspoken (Will link this later if/when I get that ability)
Regarding the Unspoken episode I found it interesting that the station Chris Preston was on “was” Anchor 9. Like I wont lie that was a deep cut in a fun way if there ever was one!
I found it even more curious if the Shield Gauntlet that Chris and David recovered was the same one 10 years later that would be broken down by Leonard Gillespie around January 10, 2536! Thats 10 years this thing sat at that point aha. (Probably alongside the other tech that people recovered to be fair)
I especially enjoyed seeing that mentions of what happened in Unspoken could be traced back to Halsey’s Journal 11 years ago - great world building and consistency right there!
Yup! Thats why I mentioned Leonard Gillespie! The idea that this ties to Halseys Journal is something I adore! (Granted as a Halopedian myself, I just adore potential stuff like that
Small update: Seems the next episode is based on the Grappleshot! That is going to be interesting to watch!
The newest short Project Magnes is really interesting! I especially loved how it managed to tie in the second fall of Arcadia in 2549. Something that is not well known!
Shame we never learnt the Engineers name however. She was pretty cool for what she managed to do!
From the way people were discussing the video for Project: MAGNES, I expected her to somehow be unexpectedly killed in the experiments. I was very happy to see her not only survive, but succeed in the prototype.
And it sure was, really like the idea that its different scientists and fleshing out backstory of the program from more than just Halsey as a character, while we might not see the unnamed mom doctor again its refreshing.
I found them quite emotional in their own way, to see the stories of these smaller/unknown heroes portrayed in live-action shorts makes it feel more real, more than just a video game. And that’s kind of what makes Halo special.
Some hints as to hidden meanings - two trailers for the price of one!
Project Magnes: I did indeed see “Wonder”, and working out how to make a machine work, working out on an inspirational exercise machine, working out an optmisation puzzle like the Travelling Salesman Problem set by a daughter, then one doesn’t know whether to laugh or cry when we have “hit our target” because we have “worked it out”. Of course, we should always keep a Journal, including noting when we hear the news of the glassing of Bliss, sorry, I mean Arcadia, or having grown things in our Lab, cut a fragment and put it in a package that we hope our chosen orphan from Jericho-VII will deliver to that most seasonal of stone columns - after all, whether Grappleshots or enemy Anti-Aircraft Cannon in Halo 4 - “Technically, things are supposed to work a certain way. Technically…”

Lightbringers: 343i have been making heroic WWII movie references in some of their trailers. In the WWII movie “Carve Her Name With Pride”, Special Operations Executive Agent Violet Szabo learns her Code Poem with which to encode messages before going undercover in France:

Now decode the meaning around this song/poem and scenes as he sings of Noble-6, as “someone” asks “Do you have it?”, he’d say “I have it” as we take the fragment of this “evolved ancilla” and “Carve Her Name With Pride”, and we see the star herself beneath the soil on her good name - as a Hero of Reach rises for Halo Infinite!
