Alrite this is my first post here so bear with me. This post orgininated from Bungie.net About the UNSC Frigate, Aegis Fate, discussing where it is and how it got there.
My Guess is the Ark. I’ll post my arguement here:
What We Know: It survived Reach. Came back to Earth and helped repel Truth’s attack on Earth (In halo 3, Battle of Voi) Now in the Battle of Voi, When Truth escapes through the portal, it is known that it is firing MAC rounds at it. Now we know (according to Halopedia) that it along with (Unknown) and Forward onto Dawn went to Installion 00. (Though Halopedia seems to be very disorganized at this part) From there no evidence from halopedia supports that it fought in the Battle of Installion 00 though we know it travelled through the Portal. Aegis Fate means “Protective Fate,” or “Doomed to Protect.” Halo 3 BETA describes it fighting in the battle of the Ark (00). The Aegis Fate encountered Brutes.According to Elephant’s display information of holographic screens, the atmosphere contains high CO2, unfit for humans to live. This would kill the theory of it being on the Ark. However it might mean it could be in a different section or the equipment might be broken/malfunctioningTheory, The Ark: It is assumed that the firing of the Halo ring either severely damaged or destroyed the Ark while killing the Flood forces around Installation 00, including the Gravemind commanding the massing Flood amid the battle. -HalopediaNow if it was on the Ark, it would explain the name, “doomed to protect” Protect what? THE ARK!!! Also where else could the Aegis Fate go after entering the Portal? Its in a completely different galaxy! IT MUST BE THE ARK!
Now I also have the after-discussion report:
Maps are indeed as cannon as possible. Multiple Frigates did enter the portal and fought in the space battle above 00 as stated in the quote by the shipmaster. Sandbox and sandtrap are not proven to be on the same structure.
Useful Comments:
-Now my arguement for it still being on the Ark is a different Setion or somewhere remote. Now we know the Ark is heavily damaged. I’m guessing that the CO2 levels can be explained because of that.
-Also, for the guy above me, it was the Shadow of Intent that carried the Dawn. It was also mentioned by R’tas during a radio comm during the Ark battle when he says “Let your Cannons roar!” He is referring to multiple Frigates, not just the Dawn.
-Again, there is no actual evidence here, just one line that you are interpreting. It is still mere speculation.
Listen to R’tas during the Radio chatter in the downed Pelican on the Ark. You’ll hear it. Does he mention the name Aegis Fate? Does he specifically say he is talking to a different ship than the Dawn? No. It is not proof. Using your logic you could say he was talking about any ship from the UNSC Home Fleet.
-That was during the battle above the ark,he said “cannons” and a frigate only has one MAC so there had to be 2 frigates.
-Why would he be talking about a ship from the home fleet if that fleet wasn’t even present at the ark
-He uses the plural form of Cannon, which is Cannons, which is referring to the MAC Cannons. Since Frigates only have One MAC, it makes sense that he is talking to multiple ships.
-Looking at sandtrap’s enviroment we see desert, one similiar to The Ark level. Bungie was probably thinking this. However we see Forerunner ruins… or precuoser. Unknown ruins. Now why would they have ruins on a construction?
-IMO the Aegis Fate is on one of Te’s moons, as Sandtrap is located on the same area that Sandbox is in. And in Sandbox you can see a planet in the background that is very similar to Te (the hunter home world), also, there was no planet near the Ark.
-This reminds me of something I noticed and posted, but nobody ever really payed attention to it.On Sandbox, you can see a ringed planet and there’s also a sun with a distinctive space-cloud thing behind it. On Heretic, you can see both a ringed planet, a sandy planet, and a sun with the exact same distinctive space-cloud thingy. The map said that the Pious Inquisitor was part of Truths fleet, right? The fleet was heading for Earth (strangely using sub-light engines within the solar system instead of just arriving closely via slipspace). I’m not exactly sure though.
-going back to provide futher evidence, i guess you could tat it is the same thing. Now truth’s fleet went through the portal. and this is part of truth’s fleet. That shows that this is near the ark (probably). Also in the level “halo” (in halo 3) you can see an artifical sun (yes artifical) so tat proves that the ark has a sun. !!! however the planet is throwing me off.
-Perhaps Sandtrap takes place on the Brute homeworld or a former Brute colony.
Maybe Joyous Exultation?
-True but when someone “occupies” something, thats usually temporary right? (maybe wrong on that) so that probably isnt their homeworld. Also after the war, the elites kill the brutes, not UNSC as i am quite certain about tat. Although the Brute occupiers have been driven from this ancient structure, they left plenty to remember them byThe only thing left that im trying to figrue out is the last part. The only thing they left was a phantom if im not mistaken.
Proving Maps are Cannon
How important is it for a new map to fit somewhere into the existing Halo storyline?DM: In general, our philosophy is to build a map that’s fun to play and looks great and find ways to weave it into the storyline afterwards.LB: Sure, it’s not super important that it fits into the current game’s storyline, but it must be fictionally relevant. We want these locations to fit in with the universe, obviously. They might not be exactly where the current game is taking place, but they are in similar locations, or other parts of where the existing campaign is taking place. With the multiplayer maps we try to expand the universe and tell our own stories with each location.
GameSpy: Although multiplayer doesn’t continue the story, it seems like each level has its own back-story. Is that your doing?Joe Staten: My only real contribution to the design of the multiplayer maps was a little writing for their’ UI descriptions and a lot of whining that they had too few cherry sniper-spots (yes, I’m one of those players). We all wanted to make sure the multiplayer maps were reminiscent of Halo 2 locales and, therefore, rooted in the single-player fiction, but the success of that effort is all the multiplayer team’s doing.
