Unrealistic trades in Infection

What started as playing Infection casually led to taking it more seriously and along the way I’ve noticed some unrealistic trading e.g. dying in spite of killing an infected before their sword slices you and dying in spite of killing a survivor before they can pull a trigger. The latter is rarer and I could be wrong bc it takes place within a fraction of a second but the former happens for sure. I think it’d be QOL improvement to minimize this. What do you think?

I found that in the few games I’ve had in it ( tbh not really an infection fan) I have had happen to me walk into a sword being held by an enemy who wasn’t swinging and didn’t know I was there and touch it and die . Not sure if this is a factor in the unfair trades but I wouldn’t trust the consistency of sword play . Also I imagine you will get a few people blaming your connection maybe ? But my internet speed and connection is fast and like I say I experienced this also .

As someone who spends lots of time in Infection (and tries to get the occasional Killionaire), I find these kinds of trades very annoying. Sometimes whenever you think you’ve landed a perfect shot on an infected, you instead get a sword right through your gut. Even if you’ve managed to get the jump on them first, they still manage to take you out completely.

BONUS TIP: During Infection, the Shotgun can reliably kill an infected player just slightly out of its red reticule range. Just ensure you aim for center mass and they will die.

They had to have swung. Something like this happened to me once when approaching someone facing away from me, they shot and it hit me. That was lag I imagine but I normally have a good connection. The said trades though, specifically the former, happen too often to be a connection problem IMO. Thanks for the input!

Thanks for the tip! I hate it when what appears to be a clean shot doesn’t take them out. I also find these trades annoying especially when you’re trying to make it to last man. It’s like, “I shot him in the face with a shotgun and killed him but he still managed to fatally wound me with a sword.”

It’s less about how fast your download/upload speeds are and more about how long it takes your signal to reach the servers (latency) compared to other players. If you’ve got high latency (which can be a problem totally out of your control), it can result in inconsistent gameplay, like on your screen it looks like you trade kills even though you attack first, but on the screen of the other player it looks like you hit each other at the same time.

I swear their soul just jumps out of their body and them getting the last laugh, the amount of times I’ve died from killing an infected having no sword swing whatsoever

I’m well aware of this I didn’t want to go into a long drawn out discussion on the effects of internet speeds / latency as that is another discussion entirely. I simply added that as a side note because often to any sort of criticism to anything of this nature you get a couple of " I never have this , check your internet " style responses. I was simply showing my apathy.

Remember when Bulltrues were actually legit? Not so much in this game, I didn’t have a problem like this in other Halo infections. There’s a lot of head scratching trades in this game

Hey I play infection nonstop its just infection ive shot them and turned around and boom I get killed by a trade little hint shoot with your shotgun and thruster left or right as soon as you do it works trust me

I’ve found that they seem to give the edge to the Sword as much as possible. No matter what the best you can do to someone with a Sword while using either the Hammer or just a normal beat down seem to be trade. There seems to be some sort of delay while using either of those against a Sword user, allowing them to get the trade in.

I feel your pain.
