I haven’t played MCC on Steam in a few months and decided to play it again after Halo 2 released. However, every time I run the game, I encounter this error:
> The UE4-MCC Game has crashed and will close
>
> LowLevelFatalError [File:Unknown] [Line: 200] Unreal Engine is exiting due to D3D device being lost. (Error: 0x887A0020 - ‘INTERNAL_ERROR’)
I’ve never encountered this error before while playing MCC on Steam, not even one error for that matter until this one. I’ve tried launching the game in Anti-Cheat Disabled mode, verifying the integrity of the game files, reinstalling the game, checking if my drivers were updated, and restarting my computer, yet the error still keeps popping up every time I launch the game. I’ve also searched around to see if anyone else has or had this problem and find it bizarre that I’m seemingly the only one encountering this error all of a sudden. What could be causing this error and what can I do to fix it?
Specs:
- Intel Core i5-8400 Processor
- Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Ti
- 16 GB of RAM

I’ve read through all known issues and could not find anything relating to the error I was having.
Fortunately, I figured out the problem. It suddenly occurred to me that reinstalling my graphics card’s drivers might fix the error, and it did. Remembering back to when I first installed the latest GeForce Game Ready Driver, which is version 445.87, my computer ran into a black screen while installing the new drivers and I had to restart it. I’m assuming this caused a problem with my GPU as the driver installation was incomplete despite it saying I was updated to version 445.87, most likely because I was missing some files that failed to install when I received a black screen and had to restart my PC.
This problem is now resolved.

That’s great OP, glad you found a way to get this resolved. I’ll keep a note of this in the event someone else has the same issue
So that for sure fixed it? I had been getting this error awhile back, and did a complete recovery install of my computer. Everything was running fine after that for a couple weeks, until tonight, and it started back up again in the middle of a match. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I found a solution, it was to do with my ram that was set at max Mhz, so I downclocked it by 100Mhz or so and it stopped crashing.
