My halo 4 disc cannot be read by my xbox, I tried 3 different copies, none of which made it past the microsoft studios screen. I then downloaded it online and that didnt work either, I have already worked with xbox support and they could not help me. If anyone knows what the issue is please let me know, I have tried everything short of replacing my xbox
I had this same issue with Mass Effect 3. I tried a couple different discs, but disc one would never read for whatever reason. I replaced the game and it still happened with the new copy, but could read other discs just fine. I eventually just bought a new xbox and now every game works perfectly. It turns out that it was the optical drive of my old xbox.
Before it did that it was having some problems already, like not reading games immediately when I put them in or making a strange clicking noise. If you’re relatively skilled with tools and you have one of the old white 360’s you may be able just to replace the optical drive. Before you do though make sure you do a lot of research to get it right. I bought a new xbox because I didn’t want the hassle and I had the money.
Anyway, that’s all I have for you. I hope you don’t have to buy a new xbox. If you do, I would try to get one used with the 720’s just around the corner. Good luck!
EDIT: If you happen to know someone with an xbox I would try the Halo 4 disc to see if it works. If it doesn’t you definitely have another bad disc. If it does I would say it’s your xbox.
I also had this problem with Mass Effect 3. After messing around with the console for awhile, I finally got it to work by deleting any and all dlc and title updates and then restarting my console. Once I started the game again, I was prompted to download the title update and the game then worked. This is what your issue sounds like to me. Hope it helps!
