I want sprint to be in Halo Infinite. In my opinion, they should let you chose between classic gameplay and newer gameplay, just to satisfy both classic Halo players and the newer ones (like me.)
What do you guys think?
It’s not that simple. Including sprint would mean designing the levels, weapons and AI to respond to sprint. It changes the entire game.
People forget that you don’t have to sprint. Just because its in the game doesn’t mean you MUST use it. I wouldn’t mind seeing sprint in Halo Infinite.
Hopefully no sprint. But it’s not a deal breaker.

It’s not about having to use it. It literally alters map design; every level has to be increased to accommodate it. It also encourages players to flee from battles or chase them mindlessly, instead of strategizing their encounters. An increased base movement speed is the best solution. As long as sprint exists, there will always be controversy.

Agreed. I also would like to add that if sprint exists, then you actually must use it, or risk no longer being competitive. I agree that it isn’t a must to simply play the game, but you are artificially handicapping yourself if you don’t use it while everyone else is using it.

NO, sprint either stays or leaves there is no middle ground, i personally hate sprint and the new mechanics but ill tell you why I believe that what you posted this is wrong,
if you create a game with sprint and abilities mechanics then you need to create the gameplay, story and maps around it, they all need to be made in order so you wont leave the map, so you can go from one side of the map to the other in 5 seconds and so the story feels logical in its development.
if 343i is to create a classic and modern game modes with the same maps then either A) when you play classic the maps feel WAY too large, slow and empty. Or B) if you play modern the maps feel WAY too small and the possibilities to leave the map skyrocket. there are much more things that WILL go wrong if they insert modern and classic mechanics but these are a few.
Sprint and the other new abilities are ruining the franchise and all other franchises because these abilities are taking elements away from gameplay, the story and map designs, this is because the devs need to mold the maps, story, gameplay and weapons around the abilities rather than the other way around. first and foremost the maps needs to have a good design intended for good passing, variety, uniqueness among other qualities but if the devs need to be worried about someone using sprint to go from one corner to another in 3 seconds or them flying to places where they shouldn’t then the map quality is hurt because of it because they need to change it to fit these abilities.

NO, its not at all how it works and im sick of people like you saying this.
when a game is designed with sprint and other abilities in mind then the maps, weapons and gameplay will be designed with abilities in mind, then if you don’t use these abilities you’re not only in a great disadvantage when compared to players who do use the abilities you’re also not playing in the way the maps are designed to be played as therefore taking a lot of enjoyment from your game from all sides.
There’s plenty of stuff out there on YouTube and inmany previous forums on Armor abilities /sprint and what effects it has on map design , combat loops weapons sandbox ect.
I really wish people would take the time to
firstly educate themselves on both sides of the debate
Secondly have a logiciall think to themselves about what’s presented
thirdly go and play/experiment with settings that vastly alter gameplay mechanics
ie sprint/clamber/thrusters on/off sped up slowed down jump heights grav ect , on h5 custom games. Either alone or with friends.
Or even play a classic H3 Playlist when it comes up in rotation
only after then come on the forum and present an educated thought out reasoned opinion.
I guarantee it won’t be ‘oh just don’t use it garbage presented here’

Wouldn’t work. You have to design the maps around sprint for it to work in Halo. maps are artificially lengthened and it doesn’t work properly.

I would want it to be that way, but it would just be better for sprint to not be in the game at all. When devs added sprint they had to add ways to make sprint feel like the best options. Longer hallways, distorted maps, etc. It isn’t just “well, let’s just throw in sprint, why not?”.

I agree with this guy the most. I would never refuse to buy a halo game unless I didn’t have the money. Halo can be great with or without sprint. It is just better without.
Have a good night everyone.

I dont think people that think the way you do understand the amount of work/time it would take to add maps to accommodate sprint, and maps that dont. It would also split the community up which they obviously dont want to do.

If sprint is in the game and you do not use it and other people do, you will be at a severe disadvantage.
The problem with that us if you wanted it to be balanced for both styles you’d basically have to make two versions of everything, essentially making two games, it’s just not feasible.
I think this fits right in to The return of classic movement mechanics?. Feel free to continue the discussion there.
