Unpopular opinion - I kind of like the objective game modes now

Let me preface this by saying I DO want a Slayer-only playlist. That said, being forced to play objective games has surprisingly made me enjoy them more. I have traditionally ignored most objective playlists in my Halo career, but now with everyone being forced to play them, I have found that I quite like the (sometimes) organized assault that accompanies them. I think there is truth to the notion that separating the playlists eventually leads to the death of objective game types (not that people should be forced to play them as a solution).

Again, I still stand by the opinion the playlists should be separate. But for now, I am liking the objective-based gameplay. I hope that with many new players joining Halo, a future objective-only playlist will be more lively than past Halos, because I definitely see myself spending more time in it now.

Objective modes are great when I’m not forced to play them. As a matter of fact, they’re more fun when everyone who queued up for them came there on purpose.

Being Stockholm Syndrome’d into liking a certain gametype or playlist, due to no other options being available does not mean you like it for what it is.

I usually never have fun playing PvP games, even Halo, but I really like the objective modes. They focus more on teamplay than Slayer, and I think it’s were Halo’s PvP shines.

The only objective mode i really hate is total control… I don’t mind the others , right now the biggest problem is Teamwork, due to challenges not giving any incentive to winning or working as a team team cohesion is… good at best and non-existant at worse.

I like CTF and fortress, but I don’t like oddball. hopefully, as you say we can get separate modes, and castle wars, I love castle wars.

I don’t mind them as much now, but since I’m usually the only one on comms I don’t exactly enjoy them.

I like slayer, swat and most objective modes. (Had a few too many games of oddball and am not too big on them now).

I like the new stockpile and on the big maps a lot.
Total Control is also very fun, although it can be difficult to win when you get a strange team.

CTF on Behemoth is kinda meh, but I think that is due to the map.

And I am always happy when I get strongholds.

More power to you brother. For my part, I’m starting to develop an involuntary twitch every time strongholds comes up.

I think this is a little extreme. I’m just saying I don’t think I would’ve realized how much I like objective game types if I weren’t forced into them. Yes, I want them as separate playlists. But I do think I will choose to spend more time in the objective Playlist (once they are separate) than I have in past Halo games.

“You will play one flag ctf, stockpile, and strongholds until you learn to love the objective playlists. Upon completion of your indoctrination, you have the opportunity to move to oddball, multi-flag ctf, and more strongholds gametypes. Thank you for your continued support and cooperation, now go buy our $47 skin package in the store and don’t complain.”

I like obj games when everyone has mics and communicates. If I am playing solo and 90% of the time nobody on my time has mics or communicates it kind of sucks. Still can grind out some wins though but its a lot more fun when you got some good team work goin.

There is something so beautiful about Halo objective modes when each team understands the objective and rotations needed to win.

The intensity involved in a flag run in the final seconds of a game to lock up a win is just ridiculous!

OP, I feel ya. I’m not a CTF guy (don’t have a squad and it makes a big difference) but Oddball in particular I’ve really grown to enjoy.

Obviously once I - like everyone else - is in Slayer all the time, the objective playlist sill become impossible to solo/duo

Definitely looking forward to SWAT (or Tactical Slayer as they want to call it). But honestly I just can’t wait for grifball

yeah i like objectives, but i like to choose what gamemodes i want to play. and being forced to play oddball with people so stupid they do not understand its extremely simple rules, drives me insane

I’ve always liked objective modes more than slayer. We should definitely have a playlist to split slayer and obj apart
