Unpopular opinion. Delay the game

  1. Please don’t release a half completed game and then say youll fix it as “free content” over the next year or so. To many companies do that now adays and it’s a garbage thing to do to your customers. Unless you’re going to only charge a partial price of the full game and then charge the rest when you finish it, but I would still rather the game come out 6 months later if it means we get the full thing. I don’t want another BFV experience (tank customization coming soon, 2 years go by and still nothing) it’s just frustrating this trend still happening.

I agree. I would rather wait for a complete game than to have a barebones game that becomes kind of complete in 3-4 years.

How the -Yoink- is no forge at launch suddenly half of a game?? Wait on your own time. I don’t want to be stuck waiting another 6 months to play just because a portion of the community is upset they can’t make custom maps yet. That’s on the same level as refusing to buy the game because you can’t use Theater

Not unpopular opinion. Most people are calling for it to be delayed. It be ludicrous if it they didn’t delay it after the amass amount of complaints. I’m literally sick of some people trying to defend what 343i are doing. I think more people need to stand up to the issues because leaving in that state is not ok.

Not unpopular at all. I’d say about half want it delayed, and half don’t. But then there’s the casuals who don’t care, so there’s that. I doubt they will delay it again, if thwy do I won’t care because this whole thing is just a huge mess that has killed my current hype… and that’s not because of coop and forge, I couldn’t care less about those honestly.

I wouldn’t go as far as to say Forge is half of the game, however to create a stable and consistent community you really need these kind of tools from the start. Fun and interesting modes in unusual scenaries are what keeps the Halo MCC Custom Games Browser alive, from my experience, but the general population never increased noticeably, especially on PC, as these features arrived too late down the road. It was a massive improvement when Halo 3 released because there would always be something new to try that you could have never imagined, and kept people from getting bored of Matchmaking and leaving the game early, which is exactly what happened progressively in MCC and to a certain extent, Halo 5 multiplayer, being unable to recover afterwards in a meaningful way.

Then we have CO-OP; from my point of view and I’m sure many others agree with me, a huge part of the Halo experience is enjoying the Campaign with some friends or even your significant others, whether it’s for getting a first time shared experience, going for achievements, looking for easter eggs or exploring for fun. In my opinion, it also adds a lot of replayable value, and it’s been a feature included since Halo CE. I have the best memories from Campaign in the Xbox even though I’m a huge multiplayer fan.

While this may not be required day one, first impressions are everything and gamers who had the idea in mind or just don’t go to the forums, which are the majority, will probably just leave or get a massive disappointment with the product they bought. At the same time, those who aren’t continuously connected to the Internet with the console are stuck with the initial content and may not even notice the upcoming improvements or updates, further filling the upset group of players.

I believe a delay perhaps wouldn’t be necessary for the whole game, and anyone concerned could wait until making sure their purchase meets reasonable standards based on the older games (while also taking into account everything that’s completely new), but this causes the trend of releasing unfinished products to polish them later in a certain time window that may not be truly accurate and rather be kept as is indefinitely. If features are cut due to technical issues, they could stay like that for a long time and end up being cancelled, like crossplay Campaign on MCC and probably splitscreen. On the other hand, if things like Forge get released with no easy way to collect players and feedback via a Server Browser or when the hype has decreased heavily, there’s no way the game will be as popular at it could have been.

Additionally, one should consider if the absence of quality features also means the state of the game regarding optimization, stability, bugs and multiplayer variety is in a bad shape too.

This is a popular opinion. Look at these two polls from Mint Blitz and Arrash tv, both Halo YouTubers. 70% YES over 136K votes Arrrash tv - YouTube Mint Blitz - YouTube

Wrong.

Forge has been intrinsic to the development of Halo as a game and as a community.

Ever heard of grifball? Rocket race? How 'bout infection?

Forge art?

Heck Red vs. Blue itself would not be as it is without forge mode.

Forge has even been used to make mlg maps, on which players have competed for hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Forge elevates Halo above the crowd by making it a genuine avenue for creativity, and that identity and reality is baked into what Halo is, and what our community stands for. Halo 5 felt dead on arrival, and one of the great reasons for that was its lack of forge.

Forge is 100% part of Halo, part of what makes Halo great, and part of what of what makes this community great, and it is a mistake to release this game, which is supposed to hearken back to the glory Halo days of yore, without it.

“to create a stable and consistent community you really need these kind of tools from the start.” This man said it. This man said it right here. You need to have all features available at launch to create consistent community hype too. Hype builds exponentially. You cash in on some of it now, you dilute it

Delay the game.
Is the right choice 100%.

No just I’m not waiting 6 months if y’all can wait 1 year for graphics then You guys can wait 3 more months while every1 that wants to playing and having fun and start playing when everything is released if it’s that important to you. It’s selfish as hell to hold the game up for every1 because u don’t like the game.

They already said 100% it’s launching this holiday season. If the campaign isn’t open world unbelievably awesome and the multiplayer isn’t perfect then I’ll agree with the delayers. 343 has a lot to prove with this game and im sure they know that. 6 years!

So I will believe in them this one last time.

100 people on Forums and Discord is not a mass amount of complaints…they will sell millions of copies…There is probably at best 100,000 people on this forum…and even if everyone on the Forum complained…it is not going to account for the millions of casual gamers who will pick this game up and be just as happy on Day 1 without Co-Op as you and the 100 people that complained would be if it launched with Co-Op.

I think this is actually a popular opinion. I certainly am willing to keep waiting till this game is actually ready for release.

There have been 237,474 people who have responded to 5 different community polls. 69% of them said yes, we should delay

Still need millions…lets just use Halo 5 numbers of over 5 million units sold…would need 2.5 million people to say they care about a delay.

Not necessarily. Polls can tell you about the percentages of a population. That’s why we use them in statistics. You just need a lot of them, and of diverse communities. I think we’ve got that

Where are these polls you reference.

343 could have avoided this fan base civil war by saying “Key features of the game are not finished, and we will need to delay the game by 6 months.” Then no one would be arguing over which features matter and which ones don’t. We would still be arguing about sprint instead lol
