It is 12:11 am Central Standard Time in on 28-April-2013 and I have been able to play only one game from start to finish without quitting. There are major issues with Settler with spawning in the water and lag. The lag on all maps other than, it seems Ragnarok, that Halo 4 is simply unplayable. When will this stuff be fixed?
I am talking all week by the way 343.
I don’t have lag on my games, keep in mind that its not only the game that can cause lag it may be your connection, about the Settler spawn over the water that issue is already getting fixed.

There is no need to double post there is a Edit button on the post Menu.
Settler is Junk.
Anyways, for the most part I don’t have problems with Lag too bad. Some games, yes, but usually I have been pretty lucky.
I find for whatever reason all the custom maps to be very choppy that they added to FFA game types … I don’t find this problem with the regular maps…
in pacific time at 11:04 there way less players are playing.
So my point was that the lag issue is severe. I have consistent 20 meg download and 5 upload speeds and the latency ranges from 30 ms to 70 ms. My connection is not in question. As a matter of fact I have top notch equipment which I set up according to the recommendations of xbox live network support team. Their suggestions on equipment, which I purchased recently, actually gets me 30 and 40 meg down with 6 up on a very consistent bases. (Thanks Live Support)
My problem began with the map pass a couple months ago. After a a long stretch eliminating any possibility that it is my network or Comcast or xbl itself it came to me that I should delete the crimson and majestic map packs that were part of the season pass. That made a significant improvement up until recently when Settler became a commonly used map on Big Team. Yep I’m a poser I love the chaos of Big Team.
There are most definitely issues with Settler. That is not disputed and acknowledged by 343i (aka Microsoft - come on guys who you kidding you are Microsoft).
I appreciate the comments.

Weird, I never get any lag and I have around 10mbs of upload. I’m also confused on how Settler can cause lag, as it’s largely empty compared to other maps. Maybe some kind of file corruption when they put it on the servers.
Also, do you have a lot of wireless devices interfering with your signal (I’m assuming you use the built in wireless support of the Xbox Slim) or using bandwidth. I hardly know anything about this stuff, just throwing out some ideas.
Settler has performance issues as do a ton of maps in matchmaking.
Hopefully you aren’t pulling host because when I pull host on some maps the framerate reduction is obvious, definitely not 30fps and dropping to what feels like 10-20fps occasionally making gameplay difficult.
n1cholas,
Thanks for the info. That is something new for me to mull over. I was under the impression that being host was good if you have a great connection to the net and a solid network with open NAT.
How would I determine when or if I am host?
Two different things:
-Lag= connection, latency.Caused by remote host. Common in p2p games, like Halo.
-Bad performance= framerate drops, “screenlag”, the console having trouble to render everything on screen. Most H4 maps have this problem, depending on what’s happening in your player’s field of vision. Can get much worst with a second local player.
