Since about Wednesday evening I, along with a fair amount of others, have had issues with lag in 99% of games joined. Matches general start off fine, but a minute or two into a match the lag hits and all I see is people running into walls. I generally lag for 30 secs - 2 minutes, then the game catches up and I’m dead. I respawn and the same thing occurs over and over until the match is over. If I play by myself I sometimes can get one or two games in that have none to very minimal lag, but if I’m playing with a party it’s always laggy.
I’m located in Northeast Ohio, right outside Cleveland. My ISP is Time Warner Cable. I currently own both my modem and router, they are not leased. The modem is the Arris Surfboard SB6141 and my router is an Asus RT-N66u. My connection is flawless on any other device in my house, along with other xbox live games (i.e. forza 6), Netflix, and PC games (i.e. WoW and Battlefield 4). A speedtest verifies my ping as 12ms, down speed 36 and up speed 6.
My xbox is wired into my router, I even tried using my Wifi signal. I have tried port forwarding xbox live ports, turning UPnP on and off, static and DHCP IPs, my router firewall on and off. Nothing will fix this issue. From a google search “Halo 5 lag issues” I find several threads of people with this same issue with Time Warner cable being the most common component. I will link those threads at the bottom.
I called Time Warner around midnight last night (EST time zone) and they said they have not heard of this issue, but were quick to give me Xbox Live’s support number, which I found odd. I couldn’t call the number because their support line was already closed, and also I don’t think they would be able to help. If this is a server or back end route issue between Time Warner, Xbox Live, and/or 343i I can understand, stuff like this happens around launch. I’m just looking for an acknowledgment that these parties understand there’s an issue affecting a part of the Halo community and something is being looked at. Thank you for your time.
