Hey, guys. I didn’t see a thread like this, so I just wanted to quick whip one up. This is a thread that hopefully will live a while, and hopefully will get stickied. It is where you, the fans, post what you think should be added, replaced, done differently, or done away with! Hope this thread leads to awesome updates, and an incredibly awesome game (not that it’s not already pretty dang good! ;])! Now, keep in mind, this is not a rant or ‘343 did this wrong, so fix it’ forum. This is simply a forum where you express your ideas for what you think should be added and talk about it with other fans of the series. I guess I’ll start:

  1. I personally think you die far too fast in online. I would raise the shield levels up a tad in MM. I think something iconic about Halo was the fun of running a whole clip of AR ammo into your opponent before he died. Now, you only need to shoot like 10 bullets and he’s dead.

  2. You move far too fast. I have gotten countless deaths, mind-blowing grenade misses and around-the-corner misses just because a guy jumped up, or strafed the entire time… Spartans move too dang fast. If they were a bit slower, I think matchmaking would be much more enjoyable.

  3. Increase the blast radius of the grenades a little bit. I have seriously thrown grenades at people’s FEET and had them emerge nearly-unscathed. Blast radius AND quicker movement probably play parts in this problem.

Edit: 4. PLEASE make a Stockpile gametype! I loved stockpile, and I want to get into a stockpile game so bad! Also, if this is made, please give it its own playlist and don’t just jumble it in with the other FFA games and put them in one FFA playlist…

That’s all I have for right now. Just some super-minor setbacks that could probably be fixed by editing the in-game settings, or changing a code or 2 in the script. :slight_smile: Tell me what you think!

I have to disagree with you on all three counts here.
One of my main problems with Reach was its slow pace which originated from having sluggish base player speed and long kill times. Grenade spam was also rampant due to the sheer damage output and huge blast radius of grenades.

I’ve played a few games now and am definitely in favour of these new changes.

I may just need to get used to them… I’m just extremely competitive. I hate to lose, and I love to win, so any change that makes it harder for me to win is a change that I will hate and vice versa. LOL. But, I liked the Halo 3 style stuff (oh look another make 4 act like the original series guy… haha, no.) What I mean is, even in Halo 3, you were a bit slower and weapons were a bit less powerful. When someone’s shooting me from behind, I feel like I’m in CoD… just some -Yoink!- who will chase you to all corners of the map just so he can get a headshot with his pistol or an assassination… I think slower people and weaker guns would fix that. :slight_smile:

Thanks for starting this. I was looking for a thread like this to submit my suggested improvements so far. Hopefully the Waypoint team will set something official up that’s dedicated to this, but in the meantime, here’s my two cents:

  1. Show an icon in the HUD for the weapon you’re holding that’s not in use. Why was this dropped? There’s plenty of room for it in the upper right.

  2. Include some sort of sprint meter.

  3. Agree that deaths are way too quick and easy to come by. Increase shield strength and/or reduce damage strength overall, at least a touch.

  4. It’s hard for those of us who don’t live and breathe Halo to quickly discern the different ordnance options just from the icons. Possible to include a quick textual description along with them?

  5. Provide some sort of visual and/or audio warning when reviewing the Carnage Report that you’re about to be placed into the next game, in case you want to back out.

  6. This probably belongs in another Forum bucket, but PLEASE FIX THE WAYPOINT WEBSITE! It’s extremely wonky in general, but especially so on my iPhone, and when using IE8, where it’s practically useless since it doesn’t display any scroll bars!

All in all, a great game so far - but room for improvements that I hope and trust you’ll consider the community’s feedback in prioritizing.

One thing I heard a lot of people complain about was how there’s no assault, and other famous gametypes in online or custom games, and that Forge options were limited. But, then again, I also heard that the game was still in pre-release (I don’t know how that’s possible… the game has been released) and therefore we can expect some things to change and be added in the near future.

I would like to see it be a little easier to attain Spartan Points(?) to buy more gear for your loadout. I mean, right now it’s easy because you can level up easily. But as you get higher up in level things are going to become very slow.

I’m not sure why this would be a great help. I mean, I get it, but the fact is, there really isn’t a lot to purchase in terms of wh t you can buy with SPs. You can buy a a new gun, 3 perks, a grenade type to bring with you, and thats about it. There really isn’t a lot of need to get tons of Spartan Points super fast. However, if they did something I wish they would do and make some more powerful weapons available in the weapon slots, then that would be awesome, and THEN I would see the need for more SPs. Like, maybe at SR30, you could buy a shotgun as your primary and at SR25 you could buy a needler as your secondary. I think some more loadout weapon choices would be great!

1 The DMR should be toned down for the BR’s sake. the DMR just is just to much more powerfull than the BR. The DMR either needs to get toned down or the BR needs to be a little bit more powerfull. and i am not complaining about range i understand DMR should have longer range than the BR. its just as much as i want to use the BR, because it is my favorite weapon, i have to use the DMR for all ranges. i can win a close quarters battle almost everytime against an enemy with a BR when i have a DMR.

2 I think the new “visible skill rank” they are talking about needs to be shown in the game too, as apposed to just looking it up online. this visible rank is far more important than 343 seem to think.

At first, I just thought they were minor nusiances, but these two things I’m about to say are near-gamebreaking… FIX SPARTAN SPEED AND RAISE THE GRENADE BLAST RADIUS AND DAMAGE!!! Sorry for the rant, cuz I know that thats not what this forum is about, but grenades in halo 4 are WORTHLESS!!! they take so damn long to blow up, they aren’t accurately thrown, and they can be right under you, and not kill you! That’s not what is supposed to do. at least in halo 3 they blew up your shields if you were 5 feet away from it… now you can be 5 INCHES away and they do absolutely nothing!

Here’s another one:

  1. Add a ‘barebones’ playlist. No grenades, no AAs, no perks… Just you, and your two guns. I would probably play in that playlist forever!

OK, you can scratch my #5. I just noticed there’s a progress meter in the upper right of the stats screen that shows the status of the next game setup. Good add!
