Unnecessary hate - What do you like?

TL;DR version - Halo 5 and 343i are receiving far too much hate and deserve a lot more praise. What do you like about the newest title?

What’s with all the hate? Ever since 343 announced Halo 5 and the ‘Reclaimer’ saga, the community has had aneurysms whenever something new is announced. Honestly I understand the disappointment within the community - It’s impossible to please everyone. - but Halo 5 doesn’t deserve all of the hate.

It all started way back before E3 and still to this day, the community is having a fit about everything.
>Agent Locke existing
>Aim Down Sights - An unorthodox version
>Spartan Abilities - Massive rage about the sprint ability
>The graphics - Which is weird considering it looks great 95% of the time
>Master chief dying - Referring to the ad campaign, not the games campaign
>Removal of split screen
>Micro transactions
>The campaign - The story is still revolving around chief even though you play was Locke and the ending (not to spoil anything) isn’t any worse/better than Halo 2’s
>Reviews - The community is even having a fit over the reviews, which have been rather positive!?

In the past few days I have seen mainly outrage within these forums and other websites, like Reddit and YouTube. Some features that were removed - split-screen - are a shame but people are acting like 343 ruined a franchise? It’s almost as if no one cares that the game has a stable launch with very few bugs - which is new for a game lately- and even the co-op campaign runs off dedicated servers*.* There are quite a few aspects in Halo 5 which are great; The multiplayer is quite possibly the best since Halo 2, despite the few games modes at launch.

People are being far too harsh on Halo 5 and 343i, I personally think 343 did a great job of the latest installment in the franchise. People need to build a bridge and get over it.

Master chief dies? Spoilers…

I agree with this completely. Everywhere I look it’s someone complaining about something.

I’m not saying if he does or not - I’m referring to the ‘#huntthetruth’ ad campaign that was ran before release

When the list of positives (personally) stands as:

  • Grunts - Gameplay - Environment Art - Level Structure - Content Structure (more meat, less filler) - Objective Design - Weapon Mechanics - Weapon Balance - Dialog writing (if you missed the Grunt and Elite sitting on the cliff side you missed half the game.) - The AI (except for late game friendlies, they start loosing it with tougher mobs.) - Health mechanics (enemy and player) - Movement mechanics (enemy and player) - Sound design - Engine performance - Art style - Voice ActingI have no worries about the objective quality of Halo 5. People may say what they like, but its not hard to recognize where they may not be taking things with a balanced perspective.

Well you do also have to keep in mind that youtube in particular stands as a platform for personality self-promotion. You generally aren’t going to find reasonable commentary, but large emotional statements that contort some sort of point to service the immediate needs of the person making the statement. The game is what it is, regardless of how it’s used by soap-box preachers. :stuck_out_tongue:

I understand people on YouTube, all they do is complain but it’s even here on the way point, a place where all of us Halo fans go pretty much.

because there is a bunch of people that still do not think 343i is able to create a halo game and that bungie is the only people that know how. I think 343i is able to create a wonderful story that bungie has trouble actually telling inside the game along with game play that is actually the old recipe with a twist. So far everyone I talked has says it feels different but they actually love the new ADSing.

It’s the general culture these days. Every single game forum is exactly like this. People just like to cry on the the internet because they feel it gives them a voice, because no one actually pays attention to them in real life. It’s kinda depressing.

It isn’t hate if it’s true.

Everyone’s entitled to their own opinion. If people stopped placing Halo on a such a massive pedestal and treated H5 like just another FPS, it would be receiving a lot more praise.

You can be critical while being constructive without being hateful and rude.

True say my friend! Feedback is feedback regardless of whether it’s positive or negative.

True, I am all for feedback with it’s positive or negative, but its just the statements people are making. I wouldn’t say Halo 5 is the worst game and I wouldn’t say 343 ruined Halo, neither of those statements are helpful in anyway. When people say specifically what they do and don’t like without raging on, it’s helpful to everyone.

Only thing I’ve found a good thing so far was vehicle seat switching. The rest is garbage.

I think 343i have done an incredible job with H5G. I started it at launch and played through the night and then went to work. Had to sleep (much to my “annoyance”) Tuesday night and finished the campaign last night/this morning before heading to work.

First time in a long time that I have been that engrossed/invested in a campaign narrative to pull an “all nighter”, let alone two in the same week.

I am intrigued to see where 343i will take us in Halo 6 etc, but we’ll have to wait 3 years or so to find out…

The problem with beinv detailed is that people ‘conveniently’ look the other way.
Thereis no other explanation as to how things got this bad in the first place.

Don’t get me wrong, there is quite a few disappointing or mediocre things within Halo 5 but there is no point raving about it because even though it gets attention, unless it’s constructive, it’s just going to be ignored by those at 343 who can actually make a difference. I’m just saying that this kind of backlash isn’t completely warranted considering that it’s not a bad game.

As myself and many other people believe, Halo 5 is an enjoyable game despite its faults

One thing I really do like is how they handled the CSR/Competitive rank in this game.

They made the last two divisions a constant fight that you have to keep playing to keep up and I find it wonderful. It gives a lot of incentive to keep playing rather than hitting max rank and stopping, because if you do, it will go down.

I don’t know why but I just love that. No more just getting a 50 and sitting there forever.

It’s great! It gives us an actual reason to come back every day and month to receive a decent rank

It’s the internet. People reveal the worst versions of themselves here. You complement 343i by playing. The numbers show that people are loving this game.
