I have realised that 343 have now made many changes to Master Chief, the armour is acceptable and so is the enemy. There are but 2 things which would ruin the new trilogy for me.
Changing any voices
We grew up with the deep strong voice of John and the calm voice of Cortana so changing them would be awful.
The unmasking of John
The idea with Halo 1, 2 and 3 was that you didn’t get to see his face, you could tell that thats what Bungie were doing at the end of Halo 1 because you see him take off his helmet as the camera pans away. If he is unmasked and his image didn’t live up to what you though it would be (or if your like me and don’t really want to imagine a face for him as you think its better that way) then you wouldn’t be able to look at him in any Halo and not see that face, that would ruin not just the new trilogy but the old one aswell.
I personally prefer the mystery and would be displeased if we saw his face, though I can tell you that, as a fan of the fiction and not just a fan of the “You are the Master Chief” approach, I could accept it if it happened.
However, I would not be happy to see it used as an excuse for John to go around with no helmet on all the time. That was one thing that bothered me about Reach, that all the Spartans were always taking off their helmets. You’re in the middle of a war zone! Why would you be taking of your helmet all the time? It makes no sense.
I’d be okay with something like seeing his neck or the back of his head but…we just can’t see his face. He may be a real character with emotion in the games now but he embodies a hero that we all can be. With a face it ruins it.
One of my favorite aspects involving the story line is the vagueness about MC. It allows me to use my imagination for a lot of it, for his personality/features and who he is (which are kind of irrelevant when compared to the amount of 4$$ he kicks). It feels more like the MC is actually the player.
No! It should never happen. Never ever! Even though we kind off know his face already, but it is once he was a kid. But no. They shall not show it. It is one of the things that would really ruin Halo, not Loadouts and stuff like that. IMO.
I primarily play multiplayer. And the campaign, although enjoyable, is your basic run of the mill FPS experience i.e. a 95% combat game-on-rails, and 5% cinematic story. I really dont care if they show his face or not, it will have little impact on my opinion of the campaign. If they do show it, the “big reveal” will probably go by and I wont even notice.
This is just as ridiculous as “Don’t give Gordon Freeman a voice” for Half Life. Seriously, no one should care about this stuff nearly as much as they do.
I guess Fanboys will also be pigeonholing games into uncreative corners… shrugs…

Boo. You would support Mario shaving off his mustache wouldn’t you? WOULDN’T YOU?!
