Hello! I just bought halo 5 today, but i’m absolutely overwhelmed and confused. I have zero idea how the customization works.
I simply want my standard MK. V MJOLNIR i’ve been wearing since 2001… Can someone just explain the simplest way for me to do this? If i have to buy it with real money, thats no problem! I bought Mk. V in halo 4 back when that came out.
Thank you for all the help! I know these weird cosmetic systems are the norm with gaming now, but i’ve actually been out of the general gaming loop for close to a decade, and i’ve not played any of these looter shooters… i feel so over my head
95% of armors and helmets are unlocked randomly through the REQ system. Mark V Alpha, iirc, is a Legendary/Mythic armor set so you can get them randomly by opening Gold REQ Packs. There is also a Mark V Delta helmet that comes in the premium Classic Helmet REQ Pack, which can be found on the Microsoft Store.
If you are just starting Halo 5 today, then it’s highly unlikely you’ll be able to get Mark V Alpha any time soon, unless you get extremely lucky with a Gold Pack. Since the REQ system gives random unlocks, Mark V could be the first or last thing you ever get; it’s all up to chance. The most efficient way to complete your collection is to only open Silver Packs until you unlock all Common, Uncommon, and Rare permanents, then move onto Gold packs (this will let you unlock everything faster than if you only bought Gold packs).

I recently got back into Halo and am having a similar experience. Is there no way to grind for armor (other than Achilles) or is it all RNG lootboxes?

You can at least get the Mk. VI from completing a mission from Halo: MCC.

Not entirely sure if that link will work for you but one of the helmets in this pack is a Mark V variant. You don’t get the armour, just the helmet.

THANK YOU!! my character in halo 3 is the Mk. VI with the Mk. V helmet so… I guess i’ll just look like my halo 3 character! better than nothing, i suppose.
I hope more than anything this system does NOT make a come-back for halo infinite…
